now what..

I was in depressed and i needed food and i didnt realise my speeding.. the end result a ticket, a good one too.

how what? can I get traffic school for this?? this is my first ticket, how much will it hurt me??

edit:

so now that i had a nap and rested teh brain this is what happened in sequesnce.

So i get on to the 101 East - Around the 405 interchange i start speeding up (this is where he clocked me), i had slowed down when i noticed i was doing around 90.. then i kept it at 75-80 for a while and then the greenday song 'blvd of dreams' came on and i started singing the lyrics, and i think i sped up there. When the song ended the cop was flashing his lights and i was doing 75 then..

That is what i remember. So i dont know if I actually did 90+ again execpt the inital part. But the cop too said that i had slowed down and i took off again a bit later. But I doubt he clocked me or he would have put teh exact speed. He wrote 90+ but I dont think I went past 90 ever. My car runs funny when it goes past 90+ (vibration changes), so i must have hit 90 but not 90+.

When I pulled over, i told him i was sorry, i am a bit depressed and things have been really weird and i was not paying attention to my speedo. I told him that my ex gf had caused me to break down (she has a new guy - after all the tormenting - in a way im glad she has a new guy cause she will realise what she did to me) and on top all my spring break plans were failing all around me and that i was home alone and that's why i was distraut and depressed. Anyway the guy said the reason he pulled me over was because i was speeding in wet roads, for one the roads werent wet, they were dry / damp, not enough to lose control (i would call it dry). Second there was hardly any traffic, and i didnt change lanes to avoid traffic, only to change lanes to change exit ramps, that's when he pulled me over.

I'm guessing your insurance is gonna skyrocket if you're 25 or under.... I'm also thinking how could you be going 30 over and not realize it? I will admit I've topped 110 on I-96 here near Detroit, but I knew it. Speeding is fun however you gotta pay if you get caught. Tickets suck, so do cops. Good Luck man! My suggestion: Go to court and hopefully the cop won't show up.

Unless you truly don't believe that you were doing it, I would admit guilt and just pay the fine somehow...

I'm not sure about your state, but I was told that insurance rates cannot change due to one speeding ticket... I know that they did not change for me after I got one speeding ticket.

You're lucky you didn't get a free pair of steel bracelets with that ticket.

Pay the fine, do traffic school if you're eligible - and next time you're "hungry & depressed" slow the fvck down....

plead guilty and maybe theyll reduce it....in our area if you show up at court early, they start a line. those pleading guilty with no lawyer for speeding tickets just get em reduced and pay $100 or so

Mine didn't change yet. 19 when it happened, 20 now. It's been over a year now, so they better not increase it. I got my first speeding ticket doing 90+ in a 70. I still speed, but it's hard not to when you got a brand new Mustang. I had a sh*tty old Civic at the time of the ticket, green too! Now for some reason I got a sporty little Orange colored (yes, I said orange!) Mustang and never had the cops bother me once. The cops must be on crack or something to not pull me over ever. I do at least 80+ all the way home from Detroit 5-7 days a week, about 20 miles. Amazing no tickets yet. I must be lucky + I can't afford a ticket if I got one.

that's quite a ticket

here the speed limit is 110kms/h (bout 70mph), but out country just about everyone sits on or just below 120- even that 10kms/h extra makes a big difference if you are driving 5-6 hours. Cops won't bother you unless they're in a real bad mood

i know my little mazda 323 hatch does 175kms/h flat out, stable and happy as hell (it just won't go any faster ).

Oh come on....arrest? I've got two tickets for over 100mph..one in a 55, one in a 65...no arrest. I went to court, paid my fine and lost my license for 10 days...that's about it.

anything past fine-only is a pretty serious infraction... and likely to catch the eye of your insurers more.

well teh depression is a long story.. but it was a major factor in why i was speeding..

when he pulled me over, i was a bit distraught, i told him i was sorry an di was hoping for a speed reduction, but being a man, i cant flash boobs to get a lower speeding ticket.

I hope I dont have to spend much .. i dont have much money, as a student. Its my first ticket. I dont think he had his radar on, and frankly when he turned on his lights i was doing 75.. which was btter than 90+.. so i have an edge since he didnt clock me.

LMAO... that's what sucks about being a guy. You can't flash your boobs to get anything you want from a male. Hopefully you won't get anything if he don't show up in court. Go to court to contest the ticket and see what happens. Here you get like a ton of different time-wasting court days before you actually have to pay the ticket and get points if any. I never went that far, the one I got I just paid the damn fine and went home. No bullsh*t court for me!

" didn't realise you were driving over 90 " ?

I'm glad you did not have an accident. So whatever the $$ cost you will pay out of this is very minor compaired to " what could have been ".

Go see a Doctor soon. You might have need for some " temporary " meds to help you.

*GROAN*, you've never driven that fast? 90+ on modern highways in a competent car is NOTHING. I can say in my personal life I don't know anybody who consistently goes at, or below the speed limit. It's too low in almost all cases. Heck, the 20 mph zone in front of my house (which was ridiculous) saw such blatant and consistent speeding that they finally raised the limit to 30 instead of constantly trying to screw people with tickets.

Depend on the state but 25mph over could constitute as reckless driving (more $$$ out of your pocket).

In Illinois, I think it's 20 over that would constitute reckless driving.

If they let you, just pay the ticket and be happy. In a lot of states, 20+ over the limit counts as reckless operation and is a minimum license revokation (is that a word?).

If you do Have to go to court, or if you choose to on your own... you will have 3 things on your side.
1. It's your first ticket in over 7 years of driving in CA.
2. He didn't clock you, so there is no evidence.
3. You went to court.

The judge would probably take it easy on you. Just tell the judge that you were following the flow of traffic and didn't realize how fast you were going.

OMFG, DON'T COME TO ATOT TO LISTEN TO THESE HOLIER-THAN-THOU JACK@SSES FOR ADVICE ON SPEEDING TICKETS!

They are only going to lead you down the wrong path!!! What they are telling you to do is take it up the @ss and pay through the roof. The fine alone isn't what you will end up paying. An increase in insurance premiums from now on means you'll be taking it up the butt continuously. DON'T PLEAD GUILTY, EVERRRRRR!

Here is what you do: FOLLOW IT TO THE T!

1) DO NOT ADMIT GUILT! DO NOT SEND IN PAYMENT ADMITTING GUILT! PLEAD NOT GUILTY IF THERE IS A TIME FRAME THAT YOU HAVE TO MAIL IT IN.

2) THERE IS A COURT DATE ON THE TICKET REQUIRING YOU TO SHOW UP IF YOU DO, PLEASE SHOW UP ON TIME AND LINE UP WITH THE REST OF THE SMART PEOPLE NOT ADMITTING GUILT.

3) YOU WILL MEET WITH THE PROSECUTOR. HE WILL LOWER YOUR POINTS AND POSSIBLY FINE CONSIDERING YOU ARE A FIRST TIME OFFENDER. He will probably say, we can offer you a chance to plead guilty to a lesser charge, 75 in a 65. AGREE TO THIS.

4) MEET WITH ACTUAL JUDGE, AND THE JUDGE ASKS IF YOU WANT TO PLEAD GUILTY TO LESSER CHARGE. SAY YES, UNLESS YOU THINK YOU HAVE A CASE AGAINST THE COP IN A LATER TRIAL.

5) PAY FINE AND LEAVE.

SPEEDING TICKETS ARE A CASH COW FOR THE COUNTIES/MUNICIPALS/INSURANCE. IF YOU WANT TO GET RAPED BY THE SYSTEM, GO AHEAD AND PLEAD GUILTY BY MAIL. THAT'S WHAT ALL THESE BRAINWASHED MORONS ON ATOT THINK IS "RIGHT" JUST BECAUSE YOU TRAVELED AT A SPEED THAT IS SUPPOSEDLY DEEMED UNSAFE BY LAWMAKERS WHO WANT $$$

Sorry for the caps, but sometimes ATOT frustrates me and they forget the reality of life.
