I got the Holy Ghost today!!!!!

Started going to an Apostolic church with my girlfriend about 6 months ago. Got re-baptized in the name of Jesus Christ in February, and have been seeking the Holy Ghost ever since.

Today was the day!!!!

I spent about a half an hour at the alter with all of the church's ministry praying over me. I eventually felt the spirit of God take complete control of me, and I spoke in other tongues as the spirit gave me the ability to.

Christian bashers can flame if they truly find it necessary, but this is the happiest day of my life, and nothing can bring me down right now.

Even if you aren't religious, at least be happy for me.

Good luck with all that, however remember the tower of babel as the emergence of "tongues" as a punishment on man for trying to reach God (more a punishment of man's arrogance to think that he could create such a monument and reach heaven but still) it is party for this reason that I have never really felt a need to "speak in tongues", the other reason is that God speaks to me in other ways in which I can understand him. If it is important to you however, congratulations are in order I suppose.

Sorry, don't think we got it on tape. But go to any Apostolic Pentecostal church and you will see it. After someone initially gets the Holy Ghost, they can continue to feel it and speak in other tongues for pretty much the rest of their lives.

I'll admit, the first 10 or so times I saw it, I thought everyone there (including my girlfriend) needed mental help. But God opened my eyes, and after experiencing it today, I can say that it is real.

an ex of mine subscribed to this particular ideology and when I asked this question I was told taht I was a non-believer and as such I was going to hell. However my God does not allow man to proclaim judgement of my entering the gates of heaven on me. I bet you can guess where that relationship went lol.

I could barely feel the few hands that people had on me shoulders and arms, but I wasn't focused on it, and eventually I could hardly feel anyone around me. The only thing that I could really think about was how close I felt to God. And I was saying what I thought were audible words, but the next thing I knew I could hear what I was saying, and it didn't match what I had thought I was saying. So then I just gave God control of my tongue, and what came out would sound like gibberish to most people.

hmmm I am catholic.. I dont think we have stuff like this..

we do have stigmata.. but that is a very rare case.. and I dont really know if its true or not

maybe there is a scientific explanation to what you and other people felt?? maybe its some sort of a mass hypnotism?? I am not knocking on you in any way... just want to find a reasonable explanation for this

It basically sounds like nonsense gibberish. Every once in a while someone will stand up and be the only person talking in tongues, then about 10 seconds later another person will start talking in English, and that is the interpretation that God has shown them.

But when someone is just praying in tongues on their own, it sounds like gibberish.

Don't worry, I am not offended in any way. Like I said, I even thought my own girlfriend was insane the first couple times I heard it. Then I just thought that everyone was faking it to try and fit in.

But believe me, if you ever experience it, you will not doubt.

Talk to your local Apostolic church about it. Some people get the Holy Ghost the first time they pray for it. Others like me take 5 or 6 months. Some take 4 or 5 years. But once you have been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, the gift of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speakin in other tongues is promised to you, just no telling how long it takes to get it.

uh... I know I'm not the only one who thinks stories like this sound utterly ridiculous. I know you enjoyed your day and all. But come on, how can anyone with half a brain really beleived you were possessed by spirits... it's about as realistic as "The Excorcist".
