I'm going to be a dad for the first time!

Now now, I've read you generally don't say anything until 3.5 months (most unstable time & miscarriages happen very often). So I'm keeping it quiet at least until Thanksgiving (2.5 mo).

But at least I can tell YOU guys- my trusted community of online strangers!

(Those of you here who are friends with me on FB, hush.)

• Wife's expressed her period was about 5 days late, which never happens.
• 4 hours ago, we got a good old pregnancy test at Walmart (E.P.T brand) and ran some errands.
• Tested 2 hours ago, the vertical line appeared immediately, confirmed positive.
• We've been trying for 6 months. She got off the pills back in March.

You know what's creepy? I don't believe in all that sixth sense crap. Like your average ATOTer, I'm pragmatic, skeptical, and non-religious. However, 3 days ago, I dreamt that my wife was pregnant, and she's mentioned NOTHING about her late period (nor do I know when it's due). I've NEVER had a dream of anyone getting pregnant in my life. Sure enough, she told me she was late two days after. And on the third day today, it's confirmed. Creepy as hell.... wow.

We're concerned, excited, and ecstatic!

I don't mean to get sentimental, but I've been reading this board since college. That's at least 13 years. I was a little shit, and I've gotten married and just become a father.

Thanks to AT community! You guys have a certain culture of a community that's not found elsewhere. It's just the right balance between fun/trolling vs resourceful/serious.

I'm sad now. At work when word gets out that someone's having a baby, they circulate "Congratulations" cards. Not once have I seen a card that said this. :\

Word of advice.

Figure out what kind of birth is comfortable for your wife, (natural, medicalized, OB, Mid-wife, etc) and support her.

The more comfortable she is the easier the delivery.
