Do you really live in the OC? It has like one of the highest chopstick using demographs in the nation.

I do, but I am a whitey. Hell, for things like rice, give me a spoon any day over a fork. Spoon for pasta also depending on the shape.

I don't care about authenticity - Panda Express is incredibly delicious. I wish the one here had a drive through. It's about 20-25 minutes each way and we get an urge for it every few months late at night, so not having to go inside would be great.

i am fairly proficient with chopsticks and each family member has their own set of nice high quality chopsticks to use. my older minion is also pretty good with them. she likes to practice tho. i use them whenever i have chinese/ japanese food at home, and will use them at restaurants as well.

Usually you can ask for a fork at the restaurant (and it's usually provided already) and/or request chopsticks with take out. They used to just include them, but with the economy now you have to ask at many places. Sometimes even for anything but soy sauce.

I eat steak with chopsticks...such is the demand of a Japanese wife (not really. it's called exaggeration...though I do eat a lot of things with chopsticks...even started cooking with them rather than tongs/spatula).

Depends on the dish. Some things are easier to eat with chopsticks than a fork. Beef w/ Broccoli or kong pow for example.

I rarely use a spoon for anything....even most of the soups I like. I have no idea how most pasta even works with just a spoon.

If chopsticks are offered or provided, I'll use them. Otherwise I won't.

I use a decent size spoon for pasta shapes like shells or Penne. Hamburger Helper is another example where I use a spoon.

I am totally white bread and I like chopsticks (I usually call them Hashi now since I was married to a Japanese woman for 11 years).

Even prior to her I learned they are a useful tool (much like myself )

The funny thing is as a Japanese woman she still used a knife and fork at times for the meals you need them as so did many of our Japanese visitors (coming from Japan, not Japan-wannabees).

They eat steak with a knife and fork. Some will use chopsticks after cutting it up though.

Knife, fork and spoon are infinitely better. I've watched Asian people using them and they usually have their heads bent over their plate/bowl to cut down on the distance between food and mouth... because they're trying to eat with damn sticks! Its low tech and inefficient. I always laugh at my Western friends who insist on using chopsticks in an Asian restaurant. Its just pretentious. They don't use them anywhere else. Food is food and the principle of eating it is the same. If your traditional method is knife and fork, stick to it.

panda express is good for the price but the certain dishes can be hit or miss. the mandarin chicken and orange chicken are good though.

pei wei is very good. it is upscale casual dining so not a full restraunt quality. in the twin cities ducs is a good asian restraunt but there are more than a few very high end asian resteraunts downtown.

Exactly, it annoys me when someone has to eat Asian food with chopsticks like they are cool when they never use them for anything else. It's dumb to me. I know how to use them as was made to use them when young when at friends houses but don't use them at all now. Modern utensils are infinitely more efficient.
