You flashed the bios and don't know what version your mobo is?????...
It's written on the (now) bottom side of your isa slot........takes a mirror to read it now..........

You don't really know if the bios 'took' or not.........it won't accept the wrong one........well, at least it will tell you that you're board don't match the bios you are trying !! Round peg/square hole.

EDIT*..If you have the v1.0 board, it won't recognize the 1.4 without the 64 bios upgrade!!!That's one of the things the 64 did..allow the board to use the 1.4 cpu...
Mine is a fluke and will run this xp.....but ain't supposed to, according to the book. supposed to have the v1.3board with the 65 bios upgrade to run xp.
I bet you don't have the 64 bios installed........

..........get a mirror and flashlight and get the #'s off the bottom side of the isa slot.....and let us know........all the #'s....
.....meanwhile, listen to the guys posts.......
unplug....redo the cmos......gotta get it booted first......

..Quit trying to set everything manually!!!.....Ol'Ben

Alright first off do what a lot of people have said. Step away from the PC and chill out.

You can't expect to toss random parts into a metal box and expect it to work. Real PC technicians are very systematic. When there is a problems, it is troubleshooted step by step in a logical manner. Doing things willy nilly will only compound problems.

Are you sure you are stting the FSB correctly. There can be a huge difference between 10.5 x 133 and 10.5 x 133. No that is not a typo. Depending on what BIOS thinks you have, there can be vastly different outcomes. Did you do 100Mhz FSB + 33Mhz? This would knock your AGP and PCI bus into an extremely high Mhz setting leading to immediate system crashes. Make you you set the FSB in the correct fashio to ensure the correct dividers to keep the AGP and PCI as close to spec as possible.

Hmm, sounds like you're taking the 266 fsb version of the 1.4 tbird and upping your fsb, as well as changing the default multiplier without
unlocking the cpu first. For one thing, that system wouldn't boot up at all if you change the multiplier, even leaving the fsb at 100, i know
from experience. That board is junk and i've replaced more than i care to count of them. It also does not support a 133mhz fsb to my
knowledge. Unlock the cpu and change the multiplier to 14. And it wouldn't hurt to get a better hsf like the other guys said.

*Nice to see they added support for 266 fsb cpu's to the kt7 line....

since the 1g tbird is 200mhz not 266, and everything is working fine, but now you have a 1.4g at 266, double check the following two.

<< its KT7A-Raid mother board with soft menu thru bios.
ok i just plugged in my amd 1.4 Gig CPU and it shows up in the bios as 1050MHZ
>>

are you 100% sure about this? not KT7-Raid, which is 100mhz fbs.

one more thing, are you 100% sure your ram is pc-133??

try if it crash with 100mhzX12.5 or the highest multiplier setting.

Yeah it might be the memory settings, but if you can get into bios you can always run it at fsb - pci settings to see. You really need to get rid of your superorb though. It wasn't really designed to handle the heat of a 1.4ghz AMD. And be very, very careful taking it off and putting it on. I believe this is one of the heatsinks that is known for crushing cores.

If you're going to get all new memory may I strongly suggest you simply sell your old mobo/RAM as a combo and get a new Mobo with DDR RAM?
If you have to buy new memory anyways, you might as well do it right.

I suggest you take a look at this quote from Windogg again. I don't know the Abit board all that well, but I know my Epox board if I wanted to have stable FSB 133, I had to use a jumper on the mobo instead using the BIOS.

Also may want to start from scratch again, clear the BIOS and load defualts and work on the FSB if it's better to jumper (if any) or what Windogg said about the FSB in the BIOS.

I had to do the same on my EPoX board...switched the jumper on the actual board from 100 ---> 133 and it fixed my problem real quick.

Did you buy the new RAM or are ya still using PC100? If you're using PC100, well, you're probably out of luck till you get some new stuff. Then do 10.5x133. And get a new heatsink, for the love of your processor and so your PC doesn't turn into a space heater!
