Can't they freakin do anything right. Why do the filter options never freakin work? Even back in BF1942, there was a problem with the server browser - the options were never saved, I always had to check them. WTF?!

It was tolerable, but nolonger.

I feel like I've spent my money on sht where I can't even enjoy the freakin game. I can't, the server browser doesn't work properly, it crashes if I apply filters. It shows a bunch of servers that are full, when I have "Not Full checked." I would strangle them. I want my money back for this horse crap.

Looking throught the troubleshooting page:

Here's what to do if the game freezes up says EA support:
Hold down the Alt button and tap the Tab key. This should minimize the window.
Hold down the Alt key and tap the F4 key. This should close the current window.
If your keyboard has one, hit the Windows button. This should bring up the Windows start bar.
Hold down the Ctrl and Alt keys, then tap delete once. This will bring up the task manager. From here you can manually shut down the game.

If these steps fail to get you out of the lock up you
Yeah right, you freaking dck, if those things worked... arghhh! Guess I'll just have to restart.

I can't even get the fvckin' game started. The game will not support the 6600GT AGP, eventhough the retail box states that you need a Nvidia 5700 or better to run the game. I have contacted Tech. Support a couple of times. No resoultion to my problem. I emailed them a third time and they stopped answering my emails. EA should spend less time on marketing their product and should spend more time on testing their software, so it performs properly. I'm with you, I HATE EA!

Hmmm, I guess I'm lucky. Everything seems fine to me. I'm running a 9800pro and I haven't had a crash or a menu problem yet. Granted, it's annoying as hell that the dam Esc menu takes longer to load then some full games .

Curious, do you guys w/ the problems have the CDrom or DVDrom version? I have the DVDrom version.

I think the game is like the PSP. There are a lot of people playing fine, but a lot of people who are having tons of troubles. It's just a roll of the dice w/ this one. Nobody can find a pattern as to which configurations have the most problems, so I'm gonna blame faulty copies.

you know, i missed that last line before i replied. you may very well be right. i've heard a couple others complain about 6600gt, both agp and pci-e, so something is up. somewhere.

For sure, and it's funny that it was made specifically FOR nvidia . They seem to be having the most problems.

Count me as another person who is running fine with a 6600GT. I suggest installing the Nvidia video drivers that come with the game.

Is it just me?

I just installed the 1.01 patch for battlefield 2 and now the server is refusing to accept my connection. Can anyone else connect to the account server?

Opening post, I agree with you 100%. EA's server browser stinks, Valve/Steam is one of the best I have ever used. EA should take notes. Too many bugs in EA software, corportate profits are getting in the way of quality products. Valve is always on continuous improvement (Kaizen). EA should take notes. They are going to start to loose buisness in the future if they do not correct their actions today. EA are you listening, take notes now damn it or DIE!

CPU does not matter for this game, it is totaly dependant on the GPU thanks to the efforts on nVIDIA's part. (Corporate deals like EA and nVIDIA suck).

Hahaha Hehehe I decided to plop some money down for this gem today and didnt wait my standard 3 months for an EA game. Same issue as the demo, game loads, plays but randomly locks up for 5-10 seconds and then keeps playing and does it randomly.

Patch didnt fix it.

Beautiful work those guys at EA have done. Should have taken my own advice and waited until Oct to get it. Probably be 29.99 too!

I think I have done everthing possible to try to get the game started.

1. Reinstalled the game.
2. Installed and reinstalled the drivers from the disk about 4 times.
3. Installed the latest drivers from Nvidias site.
4. Reinstalled directx 9.0C from Microsofts site.
5. Disabled all of my Anti-virus/spyware programs.
6. Reinstalled XP and repeated all 5 examples as stated above.

I'm at a lost. Any suggestions? :disgust:

It might be a couple of things, do you have enough memory to run at your current sound and video settings. If you're sure you have enough memory, have you tried to shut down some of the processes that you're running in the background such as spyware/virus detectors? I don't run any spyware detectors, but I do run AntiVir Guard without any problems. If you're sure it's none of the above, have you tried different drivers? I'd start with video drivers first.

If it will play on my computer then there is no reason why it wont work on his.

I'm amazed that it runs on your system. How does it play on 64 player maps?

I have played on 64 Player maps and everything is fine. A fast Broadband Connection is needed more than a fast CPU. Early benchmark results show that the CPU Plays almost no role in makeing this game run well, a celeron performs the same as an Athlon 64 FX55; you get the same number of FPS. Battlefield 2 is entirely dependant on the GPU or Graphics card to run.

By the way is any one else having trouble tonight connecting to the accounts server? I am getting a message saying "Connection to the accounts server has been refused" in both the full version and the demo.

Better question... what settings is it played on? 90FPS is close to the max the game displays (100) so I am guessing the setting must be set at low levels. I hit the page file with 1GB of RAM when playing on high with a 6800GT @ Ultra speeds.

I started at 800x600 and got 90 fps (rarely 100, but only for a sec or less). I bumped it up to 1024x768 and noticed no drop in performance using fraps. At 1152x864 It seems to sit around 50-53 FPS (A bit higher when looking at simple things like the sky) with all driver settings on performance and all special effects on low or off on a Trinitron GDM-F520 CRT (I have not connected the other 2 yet), Battlefield 2 supports multiple monitors.

You have to realise that for a game that has been out for less then a month and has more people playing cs or cs:s that there will be many issues with so many people playing while the majority of players won't be having a problem.

Look how "smoothly" cs:s release was.

Sure I had my share of bad experiences with the BF2 demo, which is to be expected with an EA game, but nothing really serious. 95% of the time I have been playing BF2 with no problems at all. Yes the built-in server browser blows but can't you use something like Gamespy Arcade as found in the BF2 shortcut program group? ASE doesn't support BF2 quite yet but I see support coming in the future...

One thing that pisses me off that NO ONE seems to figure out:
One minute my Internet went out, thus got knocked off the server I was on and back to the server browser. The server browser sits there for 10 minutes trying to contact DNS via my now-broken Internet and hangs up the whole PC doing it. Yay. My whole PC hung by an app trying to access the Internet waiting for a response in an infinite loop. Fun. Guess they haven't discovered the wonders of background multithreaded tasks. They must be a bunch of inept twits. Hell, even Linux is guilty of this. Humanity as a whole is failing, miserably. My Internet is not "always on", despite Comcast's claims. When my Internet 'crashes', my whole PC shouldn't freeze.

Also, why can't I stay connected to the server for more than 20 seconds once my net goes out? It should stay there for 5 minutes while I reset my modem and then when it comes back on, the gameplay should resume like nothing happened, or AT LEAST reconnect when the modem comes back on.

One thing I commend them on: On XP-64, I installed BF2 and played it with no problems at all. At the start of the setup it said it wasn't tested on XP-64 but it actually let me install it. I would have almost certainly thought that 'OK' button on that message box quit the setup. But it actually continued!

One minor gripe: I can't get in to a plane unless I press E at least 5 times in random positions. And about 10 times when someone else is piloting. That's so annoying. I always have to do it right at the door. Even THEN, it doesn't always work.

EA pretty much has a solid history of releasing code that probably should have just been deleted.

SOP at EA is to let marketing choose when a game is coming out before the actual people making the game say it's OK.

By looking at the benchmarks, im gonna call shens. Hell even a 9800 pro didnt run close to those fps. Were you sitting in a dark corner?

Get on a 64 person server (even in 800x600) and take a couple SS with action going on.

I bought it 2 days after it came out and have been unable to play online until this patch. So I'm a happy camper right now. Wasn't yesterday(July 5), but that was an eternity ago for me.
