Where do you live in NC? I grew up here and I think the people are great.

Currently in High Point, but lived in Charlotte for ~8 years, and I do plan to move out of state sometime in the next year or so. Charlotte has gotten much better since I left (downtown has since been revived), but it's still not a place I would prefer to live.

Even Raleigh fails to impress me, and outside of the three largest metro areas (Charlotte, Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point, and Raleigh/Cary), NC has nothing to offer but scenic mountain views, NASCAR (which I loathe), and college basketball (meh).

Indiana is ok sometimes, but I find myself bored pretty often. Theres not really that much to do. Plus I really don't like snow, cold weather, etc. I guess I'm just looking for a nice change.

I loved Indiana

But then again, my experiences prior to Indiana were 5 yrs in Cedar Rapids Iowa (the city of 5 smells) and rural NW iowa.

I guess anything's an improvement

Third, 25cents/15minutes is only in the super tourist area where parking is super hard to find.

Yes, everybody is going 70 and many are getting pulled over. Last time I was returning from Indiana Dunes, I've passed two cars that were pulled over. Construction work - not my impression, sure, other states also have construction, but It's not nearly as bad as here. Here, they just have to put a new road, simply repaving is not good enough. And like I said, the last construction project is going on for two years, and I see no progress at all.

Anyone have any recommendations on places to move? I would like cost of living to be low, and a fairly temperate climate (warmer than Indiana). Low crime is a must.

Antartica?

Guaranteed lowest crime rates in the world.
Except for the occasional polar bear stealing your fish.

I would give anything to live there.

Anyplace with Mellencamp, limestone swimming quarries, and the movie Breaking Away would be heaven to me.

MA is gorgeous, but I've only visited there for a few days. I've also heard that Oregon is one of the nicest places to live in the U.S. If I were single I'd probably move to northern California, though.

New England. Maine is beautiful, and Boston/MA isn't bad either. I'm of course biased I'm from Maine, but I'm in school in upstate NY and it's geographically boring out here.

I spent a year in the Raleigh/Durham area and I liked it a lot. It was way too hot though. Weeks on end of 90+ temperatures if not 110+. I just moved back to the Cincinnati area in August and I am very happy here. I know it is not Indiana but it is close enough and as far as I am concerned it is pretty much the same (I was raised in SE Indiana). No place is perfect, and if you don't like it then quit your complaining and move on. My guess is that if more of a reason to stay, you would (ie: family, friends, so, etc). That was one of the reasons that I moved back to the area. Also, the low cost of living did not hurt. Now, I just need my house to get finished.
