I hate Kazaa...

Is there anything BETTER out there (there has to be). Kazaa is the worst P2P program I have ever used. It doesn't know how to hold a connection, and usually when I'm downloading from 2 people, say one I'm getting a 50kbps rate and the other a 0.2kbps rate, as soon as the current partion of the file from the 50kbps user is downloaded it stops trying to access that user again, and just downloads from the 0.2kbps guy! Its SO annoying I want to kick it in the face. My brother uses WinMX or something, which looks alright to me but I haven't really tried it yet. Morpheus is just like Kazaa so it sucks. And Direct Connect is lame because half the servers require you to share 40GB or more to even enter the server. Is there anything that stands out?

I used winmx when I was a windows user, now I use gtk-gnutella. I can't tell you anymore than that though, the RIAA is watching......

If you have at lease 10 GB to share then you might want to try Direct Connect.

DC is to complicated.. Ya can't just point and click . Kazaalite is the easiest and best. I have successfully downloaded over 300 movies in the past year and just about every MP3. Kazaa has nothing to do with how your connection to other people are. Peer to Peer means just that. If your connection or theres sux the transfer will too.

You could try eMule, eDonkey2000's cousin. Also I have been hearing good things about BitTorrent, but found it confusing. I can connect and everything, but I have no media to share in BitTorrent's format. Can anyone help me out with Bittorrent by pointing me to a nice friendly tutorial of it or walking my hand through it?

Question also, are programs broadcasted over regular cable (say Smallville) still under copyright and you re not supposed to DL them?

Direct Connect is only good if you have a decent amount of stuff to share, otherwise it's pretty bad, really hard to find good hubs with a low share limit. 10GB seems a bit too little though, I'm having a hard time finding good hubs with less than 60-100GB share limit.

Direct Connest works well DC++ rules. you have to share alot but most peopel have it. I share 150+ gigs and get into any hub i want. also if your at college see if your school has a DC HUB. if not make one and tell people. thats what i did. people loved it. i was a GOD to them

the school let it go cause i didnt allow outside access to it. because it was internal they didnt care

I already said I don't like DC because of the ginormous share requirement. I use BitTorrent and mIRC to download all of my (LEGAL) videos, so I just need something with a large user base for MP3s really. I might want to d/l a few short video clips that I wouldn't be able to find on BT or mIRC, but nothing more than that. Anyone use WinMX, or is my brother just a lamer?

If mp3s are all you want Winmx is the way to go. Unlike kazaa you can confine searches to specific bitrates etc.. Just be sure to keep your server lists updated.

If mp3s are all you want Winmx is the way to go. Unlike kazaa you can confine searches to specific bitrates etc.. Just be sure to keep your server lists updated.

Exactly. I think WinMX owns everything in regards to finding music. Kazaa Lite for everything else.

I've never had that problem. In my experience, Kazaa always gets another partition from users when one is finished.

I'm a Kazaalite user.

I've noticed recently that I am downloading a file, then at some point it decides to stop and never resumes.

I then search again for that same file - the very same listing for the Title and File Name appear in the search.

I double click to download and it starts on its merry way again (a new download session)...however I click "find more sources" or "resume" on the original one that WAS previously downloading and it does not find the "new" version of the same file.

What gives???
