I hate long signatures in emails

I don't get it, I've always hated long signatures in emails, but today I got an email that had an 18 line signature! WTF good is that? It was a one line email, with 28 lines of annoying crap, I don't care about all your certifications and licenses and any other stupid crap that you put in there. And why the quotes from famous people? Why do people make their signatures so freaking long?

What's your signature say? I know it's a stupid thing to get worked up about but it's one of the things that truly annoys me!

28 lines is quite excessive, but 7 or 8 lines is often appropriate ... especially in a professional environment ....

I have two that I usually use, one that is my name and a short (no more than 4 lines of text) quote that goes to people who already know me. And one with my buisness contact info that I use when sending an email outside of the company.

Email addresses in Email sigs annoy me. I'm reading your email from my email, so why do I need to know your email address exactly?

At my company, most people in engineering have NO signature and often don't even sign their name to their e-mails. But I sometimes get e-mails from people in other departments who use background images in e-mails. WTF?!

I don't think a disclaimer is ever appropriate... For example:

"If you have received it in error, please notify us immediately and destroy this e-mail and any attachments. In addition, you must not disclose, copy, distribute or take any action in reliance on this e-mail or any attachments."

Gimmie a break.

I don't find those signatures to be that annoying, since I don't have to read them. I find them to be a combination of laziness/pretntiousness when I see them. There are some people I run into who have a dozen different roles - why not just put the capacity you're acting as in the email instead of everything you do??

There are two things that are the absolute worst.

1) Self-help messages..."we cannot change that which we cannot control, so therefore we must bend."

2) Latin phrases.

Both show a severe sign of utter incompetence at best, serious head problems at worst.
