I hate my cingular wireless service (dropped calls and such)!!!

Wow, what timing. Right now I'm browsing their web site, seriously considering subscribing. I'm hooked on their offer of unlimited talktime to other Cingular customers, and their unlimited minutes nights and weekends. Sound great.

Could you elaborate on why you don't like Cingular?

You'll get dropped calls with any service. It all depends on the coverage in your area.

I live in southern california...so there's a lot of people that use cingular...i guess that is the reason why i get so many dropped calls and system busy all the time. so i'm fed up with it. most of the time my girlfriend calls me, i never get her messages, until like 3 hours after words...my friend has nextel and he can even talk in the classrooms while my signal bar doesn't even show up

i got to calpoly pomona by the way...so i'm now fed up with cingular (yea so what if i get free weekends and nights and mobile to mobile) my g/f wont' let me call any other girls...so what's the point

it's pretty obvious, for cingular
pro:
fancy new phone for free or at affordable price, especially nokia phones.
unlimited weeknight and weekend.
some gsm900/1800/1900 triband phones for europe/asia travel.
get new triband phones from europe/asia before release in us market.

bad:
expect system busy, drop call at weeknight prime hours.
it's almost completely no signal in most parts of temple city, san marino, or around dense apt.


nextel is for business use, too expensive for personal use.
you need to get all your friends onto nextel boat to use the walkie-talkie feature.

Its great in Dallas....Southwestern Bell handed them a nice network, I have 5 bars on my cell phone wherever I drive (full signal strength), and no dropped calls yet. Not to mention their outstanding prices. Everybody I hear on here who bitches about Cingular is in Southern Cal - there's a whole HD thread about ppl bitching about cingular in California (San Fran too, prob. because of all the hills). I'd ask your friends what works for them.

One thing to consider, cingulars night minutes don't start untill 9pm on weeknights, and until 12:01 am on saturday. My sprint night weekends start at 8pm.

wouldn't it start at 9 pm friday night, and last thru 5 am (or whatever) in the morning Monday?

I have learned that you don't pick cell service on brand name alone. Duke is right, coverage is the key. The biggest/best provider will not matter if there is not a good signal where you need to use the phone.

I asked my neighbors and co-workers what service they used and were happy with. Since those are the areas where I would be using the phone the most. Worked for me.

Everyone's going to have a rollercoaster time with any cell phone provider - Sprint for me in the Dallas area has been rock solid. For the past 3 weeks or so it's been pissing me off really badly. (I basically don't receive phone calls but I receive voice messages) I've changed phones but same problem and Sprint treated me like a dumb arse so I'm in the market for a new provider. I'm sure I'll get some problems with a new one too but you gotta take the good w/ the bad.
