Long story short, this phone blows. It's SOOOOO laggy. Basically anything and everything I do there is some kind of latency involved, especially in texting. I was using hangouts for a long time with Swype, so I went back to factory default messaging app with the stock Samsung keyboard. 0% help. Close all apps, restart phone... Nope. Not on any kind of ROM, everything is stock.

Other than a factory restore, what else can I do? I'm seriously 1 day away from throwing this phone out my window while I drive at a high rate of speed down the highway.

Has it been like that since day 1, or has it degraded over time?

Over time, especially within the last 1-2 months. It's so brutal.. I will go to reply to a text and I'll type out the word and maaaaybe 5 seconds later, the word is typed out, or maybe even not at all.

For what it's worth, phone is only 7 months old.

Blah, only 7 months old. Yea I'd do a factory reset, sounds like your only option at this point.

How is the battery life on it? Got a coworker here who has an S6 and he hates the battery life, has to charge it at least 2x a day if not more. He's had his for little over a year though.

Gaaaaah, that's weak. I'd expect that maybe after 2+ years, but not 7 months.

Battery life seems normal to me.

Well your other option is to systematically start deleting apps to see if something is causing the issue. I would start with keyboards, maybe try a different keyboard like swiftkey just to see what happens. A factory reset would take care of everything in one shot, but you can try and find your issue manually.

Apps which require network access back up data for you correct? I really only use a few apps plus my calendar, and those said apps are all "online", like FB,IG, health apps, etc. I could system reset and just download the apps again, and all my info should still be there.

I'd just need to off load all my pics to my PC and I'd need to put my music back on. Not a huge deal.

So I deleted and disabled a bunch of stuff. I'm on my device manager and my system is using 1.3gb of memory right now... whatttttttt? Apps are only 450mb.

I did, but that didn't seem to help. Did it by pressing power + up + home and deleted cache in system recov mode.

You got time to waste doing all that. I would have wiped it a long time ago.

Be patient. It takes time to send all your keystrokes to the NSA, while also processing all the random camera snapshots and sending them. You cannot be a patriotic American with nothing to hide and also expect snappy performance.

^ lol.

I will see how clearing the cache performs today. If the issue is fixed, I'm good. If not, looks like a system wipe, and me never buying Samsung again.

Do you happen to know anybody else with an S6? I'd be curious if you saw the same thing on another device.

I hated my s6 edge, and yes it was never out-of-box smooth again (and I tried many different things). There are a lot of background services going on for one thing

Factory reset and be VERY methodical about which apps you let back in. My S6 did this exact text latency thing, utterly maddening. After a reset phone was totally different and performed much much better.

Turn auto update apps in google play to OFF to ensure it doesn't auto download apps you had on there previously.

Check your storage, if it's too low it could cause lagging. Disable apps and clear any unneeded cache and it'll run in top top shape again. I recently did that to my gf's S5 and it's been running just fine.

I HATED my Galaxy S6. For the same reason, as well as BT performance and battery life.

The problems with me started after AT&T pushed out the first update, about two months after I got the phone. Well past any sort of return or exchange period, and I'll be damned if I'm going to get a refurb for a two-month old, new release flagship on a warranty.

No amount of cache clearing or factory reset would fix it. And since the bootloader was locked, I couldn't fix it myself with a new rom and kernel.

I ended up getting pissed at it one day after it refused to connect to BT for the radio and slammed it repeatedly against the arm rest in my truck - broke the camera module. Verizon still gave me almost $500 on a trade credit for it, though, lol.

Ditto - it was simply the worst phone I've ever owned. Heck, I have fonder memories of my LG Chocolate, and that phone was awful. Glad I wasn't the only one with the bluetooth problem, Samsung blamed my car's stereo!

I have a factory unlocked S6 G920T on Tmobile, and I am OK with it, but Samsung has updated the T-mobile G920T but not factory unlocked SM-G920TZKAXAR to Marshmallow. Even though they have the code done, even though they don't need carrier approval, they just don't care enough about US unlocked phone customers, which is a fast growing group, to release an OTA update. Instead they told me to take it to Best Buy for whatever reason.
I had no idea how clueless Samsung was about the phone business and managing the customer relationship after sale to avoid losing customers over stupid sh!t like this. At the price I paid for it with all the goodies, I am not too unhappy, but probably won't be getting another Samsung phone any time soon.

The sad part is, Sync works just fine (as much as Sync does) with my Note 4 before the S6 and my DT2, that I got after the S6!

The only other phone it wouldn't work fine with was the iPhone 6+ 128gb.

Should have gone for the Nexus 6P. I remember your thread from a while back when you were debating Nexus vs S6.

I was debating between 5X and S6 after I tried the 6P and decided it was too big for my mostly one handed usage. I still think considering what I paid and what I got, and how steeply 5X dropped in price afterwards, I made the right call overall. Samsung is hard to beat on hardware. Best in class AMOLED screen vs mediocre LCD, 14nm CPU when 5X had 20nm, Metal+Glass build vs plastic, 3GB RAM vs 2GB, hardware buttons vs ones that permanently take up screen real estate, wireless charging vs none. Various freebies that came with it (chargers, Level headphones, battery packs). If Google made a higher quality 5 inch device, that would have been best choice. Software update situation is unfortunate fly in this otherwise pretty damn good ointment.
