perfectly legal in CA, so YMMV.
California Highway Patrol said:1) Lane splitting by motorcycles is not illegal in California when done in a safe and prudent manner.
2) Motorists should not take it upon themselves to discourage motorcyclists from lane splitting.
3) Intentionally blocking or impeding a motorcyclist in a way that could cause harm to the rider is illegal (CVC 22400).
4) Opening a vehicle door to impede a motorcycle is illegal (CVC 22517).
I'd open my door if anyone tried that.

What the hell did you say to me asshole?
and smaller. so you can use that speed in many an illegal situation.Nice.
Literbikes in a straight line are frequently as fast, if not faster, than a lot of supercars. Which is about the only performance that really matters for most people.
I'd open my door if anyone tried that.
And that's why you're an A$$! You'd probably do jail time for that. Make sure you sag your pants to let them know you're down. I don't advise folks to lane split if it's illegal but damn. You'd actually harm or kill someone for moving through traffic efficiently? You need medication and psychiatric help. There are idiots on 2 and 4 wheels hell even 18. Doesn't mean I wish them harm. Even if you are joking it's not cool. Sleep good bub. Karma my friend. The circle of life. Whatever you wanna call it. Things come back to you.
I realize there are some who ride that are not assholes.
My problem is with the other 90% of them. Driving like assholes, speeding, cutting cars off and my personal favorite: gunning it on city streets to show just how cool they are.
I like to watch the youtube videos of bike morons crashing. I cheer whenever one of their bikes gets destroyed.
You've only received incorrect responses so far so I might as well answer this: it isn't legal. From the factory they have quiet, baffled, legal exhausts and the first thing owners do is modify (remove the baffles, replace with straight pipes, etc). Harley used to have a reputation as the quietest bikes around and they actually encourage their customers NOT to do that.
The "loud pipes save lives" argument has been debunked and has nothing to do with your question anyway.
its a good thing people in cars and trucks never do any of this shit you are bitching about
