this. the great debate in every "chain restaurant vs other chain restaurant" thread essentially amounts to what storefront you prefer, after that Sysco truck makes deliveries to all of them in the same radius.

...I had typed up a rant about this in one of the more recent "I hate Subway! all these other obviously shitty sandwich places are certainly better somehow!" threads, but deleted it before posting.

Well yeah, we all wish we did, but you probably pay through the nose for it in property values. Impact on home cost due to good schools, close fire departments, and crime rates pale in comparison to the impact that local large pizza sizes have. Forbes found a correlation of 3.8% property value increase PER INCH on large pizzas.

So I'm sure it's very nice to live in an area with bigger large pizzas, but we don't all have the dough for it.

Salt

Not too bad. Sounds natural except that corn doesn't exist in nature, but there are no other preservatives or anything. Look at some flavored Fritos and the picture changes drastically, of course.

Agreed.

Papa Johns may not be all that good but the last time I had a pizza there it certainly wasn't horrible. Especially a 3-topping "large" @ $10.64 delivered. *(quotes because 14-inch's really s/b a medium imo)

Rating all pizza places in my area (Connecticut) on a scale of 1-10 ... I rate Domino's a 3.0, PJ's at a 3.5 and Pizza Hut in the national chain-store lead at a solid 4. Never had Little Caesars but there's only one anywhere close to me and its in a shaky neighborhood.


Edit: Worth mentioning is a local chain called Planet Pizza. Still not equal to a good local Italian (or greek) Pizza shop but a solid notch above the nationals.

Did you leave these guys out on purpose?

That's People's Choice. They've been in CT since 1989 but I've been ordering here since 2011 or 2012.

I've had pizza at the so called good places in Italy, Chicago (Deep Dish), and New York. While they were good, nothing really amazing imo. Out of the chains, I like Papa Johns followed by Pizza Hut.

This thread makes me wonder if different chains serve a different quality product in different areas.

I think many do, actually.

But I'd imagine they usually use the things they have corporate access to for cost purposes.

The wife had a local bakery up in Schenectady were seh grew up she took me in on pizza fay they did once a week, they'd be pulling out 4X8 baking pans out of the ovens cutting it up and selling slices in the Italian neighborhood there.

We do usually make our own these days with the Deli dough.

There really is a huge difference in proper NY style pizza and chain pizza. I was skeptical until I moved to New York.
