Anybody opposed to socialism, needs to move to Norway. They even have a king you can kneel before.

Before you go, can I have your evil Social Security funds? That's socialism at it's finest!

Every form of democratic government is socialist, and that's a good thing. But much like oxygen, to much is just as bad as to little.

Why did Mexico perform an emergency c-section on her and then send her on her way with a premature infant?

That seems like rather bad treatment in the first place.

Because the Mexican govt. cares about these people about as much as the American govt. does.

So you're saying that we're no better than Mexico?

Welcome to America, where conservatives are hard at work to make us more like Mexico so the Mexicans will stay home!

Are they trying to make us like Mexico or worse than Mexico because you guys do know that Mexico at least has universal health care.

No,if it was the same, then we would lose all our maids, nannies, landscapers, produce pickers, handymen, and drywall installers. It's not enough to keep them from coming, we have to make sure we can keep the ones we have.

I would love to see somebody wave a magic wand, and have every immigrant disappear overnight. Then watch them whine like little babies, when lettuce costs $12 a head, tomatoes three for $10. See how they pitch a fit when the cost of getting their lawns taken care of triples. And I refuse to change the diapers, when they shit themselves over the extra $20,000 they got added to the price of their home purchase.

Off topic: what was this sentence supposed to say before spell check punched it in the groin? "See how they pitch a fit when the cost of getting Iran's taking care of triples."

You might want to check on how these people are treated in other western countries WHILE in transit...

you mean lawless tent cities? or how about mexican jails as they await to be sent back. or maybe RUSSIA?

You have that all wrong -- you meant to say madness over reason....sad but true!

Do tell me the virtues of the pollution and resource scarcity 100 million more people will bring to the United States. The reduction in quality of life as we rip down homes and replace them with high rise apartments. If there are any benefits found by increasing our population density, they do not outweigh the costs. At least not anymore. I am sure you feel that could be argued.

Sure, this nation is famous for "The New Colossus" motto of rapid expansion through immigration. Yet that was constructed in the 1800s. Since the Statue of Liberty was dedicated with that plaque in 1886, United States population has risen from 57 million to 330 million. Notice anything different about those two figures? Time has passed, more than one century has changed and we have changed with it. There are no more open frontiers that need millions of new settlers. All our land is already owned and accounted for from Sea to Shining Sea. Yet, since the year 2000 we have added another 49 million people.

This population increase is unending. Unless we end it.

Are you (@P&N) going to lie, profess those lies as truths to us, and tell us scarcity is not real? That resources are in fact unlimited. That we should not care about sustainability? Part of, A BIG PART, of having a future is not trashing the planet. You want more Americans, what, to help us do that faster? To accelerate Climate Change and other pollution? Because they (we) WILL do that.

We need to stabilize and get our shit together.

But I don't see anything stable in us skyrocketing up with an additional 100 million people so far in my lifetime, with the promise of 100 million MORE before my sunset years. Do you have any idea what sort of impact that increased demand will have? Do you care about these topics?
Should I go on, with what 430 million Americans will do for pollution and resource stripping? And why stop at another 100 million, we import 25 million every single decade with no indication that we will ever stop. No, the only thing that will stop our population increase is when our quality of life objectively and definitively drops low enough to not make us worth the journey. And that drop on quality of life is fueled by our growing population density. Do you want that for you, and your family?

Many of you stubbornly cling to the tradition of open immigration, the refusal to weigh its ongoing cost is something that perplexes me. I am turned from it, adamant that our future needs to be preserved through sustainability instead of rapid expansion. Pyramid schemes are for predatory capitalists, not us. Or at least, not for me.

@Moonbeam
Having a door and shutting it is not savage. If the day comes where we survive our own internal struggle and learn how to overcome our challenges, we'll be in a position to share our knowledge and teach the world. To help them after we help ourselves. I say we must stop our rapid expansion, because I don't see how we'll overcome the cliff ahead if we are still accelerating towards it. We need stability to achieve sustainability.

You speak of looking people in the face. How about our own people for what they suffer? To say that we are a nation of abundance is, I think, a delusion akin to bootstraps. We are younger, less overpopulated than others. Perhaps it is more accurate to say that we are less depleted. For our future, I want us to stay that way. Immigration needs to drop to five percent of what it is today.

I do not want the American people to bear the costs of overpopulation. Do you?

uumm we don`t stabilize by harassing legal immigrants or by splitting families that are trying to immigrate!

You are exaggerating with no proof that any of this is caused by immigrants!

Your conception of how to solve a problem is defined by what you tell yourself the problem is. What you tell yourself the problem is is subject to influence by assumptions you hold that may very well be unconsciously biased.

For example you might want to solve the problem of race in America which is based on the notion there is more than one human race. There isn't. I suggest that the mind free of unconscious bias does not view reality as a problem except all those that arise out of self ignorance.

He is so dishonest, so dishonest.

First off, no Democrat politician is calling for open borders or open immigration, that's lie number 1.

Second, US population growth is at its lowest in 80 years and the world population growth is set to stop in 80 years. That's lie number two.

Third, the US is ranked at 175 (out of 230 countries) in terms of population density. The claim that we can't support more is total bullshit and xenophobic wishful thinking. That's at a minimum of three lies in one post.

Cutting off aid to those countries should make the people who want to leave those countries stay now. Only in the mind of an idiot does this sound like a good idea.
An idiot, in this case, in my opinion, being somebody who is empathy impaired. For such people their problems become an affront they must dismiss as quickly as they can. It's one thing to be empathy impaired and quite another to have constant confrontation that provokes evidence of it. The inner moral conflict turns in to contempt for those who need help and reveal that inner poverty. The empathy impaired feel like they are inwardly empty and have nothing to give. This manifests outwardly as the feeling of being sucked dry.

Total BS!!!

I was putting the thought process of the GOP into words for everybody to read. You should know how I post here by now, using scathing sarcasm to point out the ridiculousness of the way some people in the world think. I do it on an almost daily basis and I thought that my serious posts actually point themselves out very well because they usually aren't dripping with my sarcasm.

The mother, a 17-year-old from Guatemala, had an emergency cesarean section in Mexico in early May and crossed the border with the baby June 4

So Mexico didnt give her proper care from the start, and the baby was at least a month old when she crossed the border.

So the Mexican authorities engaged in appalling behavior. How does that excuse the appalling behavior displayed by U.S. authorities?
