i'm never going to buy one ever again. my a7v133 is still unable to move large amunts of data in win2k without locking up. wasn't this suppose to be fixed a long time ago? i'm using win2k sp2 and it just did it again. i was moving my EQ folder...

is there any solutions at all? i can't wait till nForce stuff comes out

have you flashed to the latest BIOS and installed the latest VIA4in1 drivers? If you have there is something wrong with your Mobo or the hard drive(s)

Try returning it and go with something like a Iwill KK266R maybe?
I have one of these and with latest bios have no probs whatsoever

Dont count on Asus to be of any help with Tech support - i get my emails returned to me by their admin ive been badgering them that much!
Must have put me on their Junk Senders List!?

Ditch the mobo for a refund - its the only way that we can force Asus to get their support act together.

Just curious - would doing HD to HD ghost backups using both IDE channels give you the same problem? Its just that i do this all the time and havnt had any probs FWIW.

All the best,

rockhard =)

returning isn't an option. i've had it too long. oh well, anyway, the HDs are on different channels but are you saying to use ghost when i need to transfer stuff?

I would kill to see an AMD chip on an intel chipset. if there is anything intel still knows how to do well it is make good chipsets (ok lets forget about the i810, we know it was crap) VIA makes chipsets with plenty of features but they perform abysmally

I was just curious as to whether you hit problems when ghosting?

I'm in a real mood to get tossed in a fire today !!!
An A7V is a piece of sh!t no matter what Anand, Tom, Cnet or Mobo review says.....Get something, anything !, else...VIA isn't that bad anymore...
OK, I'm ready for the three of you that have had no problems......

I had nothing but wierd problems with my via KT133 based board. I now have an 815ep board. It's just a little slower and perfectly stable.

VIA chipsets have problems, thats a fact. At the computer store I work at I get almost double the ammount of tech calls about VIA boards than I do any other.

I run on a KX133 chipset which took a whole lot of tweaking but has been fine for a year thank goodness. Via? Noooo...I don't think so next time. 1 driver for the whole kit and caboodle sounds pretty good (nforce). But I'm flexible in that department.

I have to agree with murdock the A7V133 is crap, I have...er had one, and it constantly crashed under win2k. I fought with it for three months before I gave up and retrieved my KT7-Raid... lo and behold, NO MORE LOCKUPS, and I didn't even reformat. It is bossible that it was a 686B conflict, but from the stories I've heard, it is ASUS that is to blame.

From all the forums i have read and posts here too i am coming to the conclusion that it aint the via chipset that sux, just the motherboard manufacturers not getting it right.
I purposely avoided the A7V133 by recommendation of forum goers here and there and went for the KK266R as barring the early recall has been a stellar motherboard
Seems with via based motherboards, you have to be a little careful of the actual model of motherboard you choose rather tham the actual chipset IMO.

Almost bought a A7V at one time, sure am glad I went with my Iwill instead. What's the world coming to when Asus is making finicky boards?

Guess I've been lucky too, heard VIA horror stories. Decided to get one anyway. Still hear them, but less and less. 4in1's are a nuicense, but no biggie...since they work for me. Since they don't for you though, man, don't blame you at all for being pissed. Especially when you went with a known company with a great rep
