I have 2 cases. Which one should I use?

After a long sought out battle that I have had with a Corsair Carbide 500r case that came damaged and has a defective I/O Panel, on Friday, I will have my replacement parts. I also got a good deal on a Coolermaster storm trooper case that will be here tomorrow.

I have the option to refuse delivery on the case and use the 500r or use the Storm trooper and sell the 500r. I would like to add that I may be going crossfire at the end of this year and it maybe hard to sell my 500r. I just need to know that the storm trooper maybe worth keeping.

Does anyone here own a Storm Trooper and what are your thoughts on this case? I do like the size of the case and the expandablity.

For purely aesthetic reasons, I would stick with the 500r. One of the sexiest cases around.

The CM Storm Trooper is fuhhhh-gly!

My $0.02

My hardware does look better in the 500r. I have a PSU with a white fan, and a Havik 140 cooler which has white fans.

I like the Corsair - lots of bump out on the side panel for cables. You can build a very trim system tucking all the cables underneath the motherboard tray. The rubber grommets stay in place too, and the sideways drive cages makes for easy cable connections to the drives as well.

500R is nice but I don't like the integrated fan controller, it uses proprietary connectors that make the fans incompatible with fan headers on the motherboard or other controllers. And additional fans are incompatibel with the integrated controller.

Also the mesh on top restricts the airflow of the fan, literally drops 7c when I take the top panel off. Unless you are using an H100 intake, the top is useless for an exhaust it seems.

I think I am going to let the Storm trooper come in and I will do a comparison on them to see which one I like better. If the fan controller is better and I can get better temps out of this case, I think it will be a keeper. Ever since I switched to the TF3 7950, it dumps a ton of heat into the case. The 500r won't be able to keep up if I get another TF3 7950. IVB temps are already hot without adding the videocard. lol

You can't beat Corsair's customer service and the Corsair Carbide 500r in white is just awesome.

Use the Storm Trooper. It's by far the best case I've ever used. That thing is a tank. I haven't used a 500r, but if it's like other Corsair cases it will be flimsy and overrated. (Not surprising it came broken) Coolermaster stock fans are way better than corsair stock fans, just do a search on how loud those corsair fans get after a few months.

I did end up using the storm trooper when I unboxed and found absolutely no defects on the case. Every corsair case I had to RMA for parts due to defective materials. This case is absolutely beautiful and a charm to build on.

Good choice! Coolermaster is always the way to go in my opinion. There are lots of ways to set up the fans in that case, and after 8 months of owning a storm trooper the fans almost seem QUIETER than when I bought it. Cooling is similiar to my Haf 922 as well.

Guess you've never used a Lian-Li or Silverstone case, have you? Use one of those, and you'll quickly forget about CoolerMaster except for cheap builds.

I have used them both. They are great cases indeed but the build quality on the trooper is exceptional for the price. Definitely better than the corsair.

I'm doing a gaming build right now with the CM storm trooper, great case to work with. Very roomy and well put together.
