way more work than necessary. As others have noted, just find a bank that let's you dump the coins into a machine. Are there no commerce branches in DC?
here

The coinstar machines will let you get the full amount back if you take a gift card as an option instead of cash.
Taking them to the bank is a PITA. The last time I did that they made me write my account number on every single roll of change.
Why not take it to a bank with a free coin counting machine?
I use an internet bank. Thus, no brick and morter banks for me.
Higher APR > Bank branches.

Credit union. Every one I know of will convert members' change for free. Hell, my credit union has the free change machine in the lobby. Dump your change, print out a slip, take it to a teller for your cash (or deposit).

You'd be surprised. A couple of years ago, I took in a 5 gallon water cooler bottle not-quite-full of mixed change (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters -- a few years of emptying my pockets every evening) and it was more than a thousand bucks. Freakin' thing weighed more than 100 lbs. too!Originally posted by: NinjaGnome

You don't need an account.
