I am close to 30 years old and dont know how to ride a bicycle..

is it too late to start now? How hard is it to learn?

I am quite active (swim and jog a lot), and relatively fit for my age.

Make sure you start off on a large hill and go down your first time. You'll learn quickly.

Just grab a bike and go with it. It's not hard. And no, you won't fall, even if it feels like you will.

No, it's not too late. It's easy to learn. The hardest part is overcoming the feeling that you're going to fall. Just keep going and you'll naturally keep your balance.

I remember I learned how to ride a bike at age of 6.

Step 1, choose a hill with a slight slope so you dont have to pedal.
Step 2. Push off with your foot, sit and stir.
Step 3. ??????
Step 4. Profit

P.S I call shens, no way someone doesn't know how to ride a bike

I am nearly 22 and do not know how to swim. A lot of people that I tell this to don't believe me, I had a traumatic experience when going through swimming lessons at a young age and never went back. I've thought of trying to learn but it seems embarrassing at my age.

I think it would be more embarrassing learning how to ride a bike

First, we must answer the question of the ages ...

Can you teach an old dog new tricks?

But seriously ... since you're older you can ride around with your feet on the ground pushing ... get a little momentum and it basically holds you up without effort ... it's all about leaning for balance and not over steering.

Step one: Buy a helmet and wear it. At age 30, banging your head on the pavement will do a lot more damage than the same blow would have at age 10. Your brain tissue stiffens as you age so head injuries get a lot more serious as you age.

Step two: Once you've become comfortable wearing the helmet, go find a bike...

It shouldn't be too difficult to learn, especially if you are already in decent physical shape. The unfortunate secret to bike riding is that the faster you are going, the easier it is to maintain balance. Get a bike and a helmet, wear long/thick clothes in the beginning (or pads) and find yourself a flat relatively empty parking lot to practice in.
