What's a good kitten food?

I asked on yahoo answers and got not responses so well this is off topics so thought I could try here.

I need to buy something today because they dog ate all his food before he got to try it, was going to try iams but don't know if it is good. Natural Balance made him have the running poops.

I feed my cat Blue Wilderness.

Look for something high in protein that has meat as the first ingredients. Grain free is also something to look for. I'd stay away from the grocery store and get something from a pet store. A lot of the brands at the grocery store are basically flavored corn with animal byproducts.

Yeah try to get grain free. I did the mistake for the longest time of going with "vet grade" food from the vet thinking it was better but after reading up on grain/grain free and all that, and noticing that not a single ingredient in this food even had to do with meat I switched my cat to a brand called "Instinct" it's a duck and turkey based food. So far my cat has not puked for over two weeks. Still early to tell though. I also mixed it with her old food for a while to transition her smoothly to it.

Blue is outrageously priced, bad enough buying it for my dogs and 1st ingredient is fish, blech.

My cat hates fish...

I'm kinda need something not too expensive that I can get at Petsmart with no fish.

My puppy ate all my cats food so he won't get to transition to the new food.

$15 for 3lbs? Not on my budget...

Looks like Iams is what he gets...I'm on a extra tight budget because I just bought dog food at $50 for a bag.

Hoping there was something a little better that wouldn't break my budget...

Good luck with your Chinese cat food. :|

I raised a litter of seven and they ate this for the duration. But really, I'll give them anything with "kitten" on the label or table scraps or whatever.

If your "cat" doesn't like fish then you don't really have a cat. Maybe you have some sort of hedgehog or something.

Well talk about jinxing myself. My cat just puked now. I just finished cleaning up several areas. Time to try another solution I guess, maybe an auto feeder. I'm probably still going to stick with this food though as it's probably healthier for my cat than the grain crap. My cat is not a bird.

My advice - it'll take some trial & error, get the cat food that stains the carpet the least when the cat throws up. If what you bought stains pretty badly, immediately throw it out and get a different brand.

We never cared too much what the food was, and have never had a cat grow up sickly or anything.

" get the cat food that stains the carpet the least"
That would be a very small cat, when it pukes on your carpet and you stomp his head on the carpet it won't leave as big a mark.

I'm going to assume you are not serious but, even so, please keep that kind of remark to yourself.

My cats will only eat Iams cat food. I've tried other stuff, but they just end up puking it up or seem uninterested.

One of the cats I have won't even eat cat treats.

However, the other one absolutely loves the Friskie's - Wild West Crunch cat treats and will beg me when I get home from work to give her some. (When I go into the kitchen area where her treat bag is, she'll come up, and stand up on her hind legs and rub against me, etc)

+1 for blue buffalo. we use blue wilderness duck and chicken bags for dry food, and give them blue bistros and wellness for wet food twice daily.

obvious cat food choice is the blood of his enemies.

cats are weird little assholes. my bengal has no interest in meat, but he'll go crazy for bread.

I have the same issue with one of mine. It's a lap cat so it always sits in my lap while I eat dinner. If I have meat on the plate, it sniffs and lays down. If I have like a brat or something with a bun, it will try to grab a piece with her claw. Not the brat, but rather the bun.
