I have a problem (gf3)

Alright, my friend and I just put togther a new computer... booted it up, installed win98... and everything was working fine.

After a while of running the new system, the monitor went into sleep mode and said there was no signal coming through.... at first I thought it was my monitor, which is a LCD (digitial and analog).... so I tested both cables.. didn't work.. then I tried my friends monitor... and the same this, it said there was no signal... so then it has to be the geforce 3? Now when I boot up my system, it runs through the start up... and as soon as it hits windows 98 the monitor flicks off and clams there is no signal..

Can any one suggest anything? Please?

well does that mean that before you actually boot into windows that the montitor is recieving the singnal from the gf3 and your able to see the boot screen?...are you able to enter the bios and see that screen aswell?

I think that means the card is fried.

I used to have that happen to me with my Geforce DDR 256 card.

It would boot into windows, then would flicker and then leave me with a screen that I couldn't touch/do anything to.

im am 99% sure that u set a refresh rate too high, or u are using a resolution that your monitors cant handle, and that is why it works till it hits win98, it loads the monitor setting and if ur monitor cant handle it then it says no signal/out of range. i would try booting into sade mode, and uninstalling the gf3 drivers and restart, and try the driver installation over again

if possible boot to safe mode and confirm the given setting for the vga-card (640x480x16) and reboot,
hopefully your monitor is simply running way out of spec.

if that doesn't help, uninstall the drivers in safe mode and reboot.

if nothing else works, try another vga-card and see what happens.
