my friend asked me to help her build a computer for college, and i agreed. i purchased a mobo + cpu combo from frys and held on to it until i got the rest of the parts. i then convinced my friend to purchase a dell because it was cheaper for the whole package that included an lcd monitor (knowing how hard it is to find a 17 in. lcd for $300 nowadays). I then sold the mobo + cpu combo on ebay. I did not intend to profit from the auction, because i just wanted to get rid of the item. If you must know, I probably profitted about $5 from the transaction. I waited for a positive feedback, but in lieu i received an email from the buyer telling me that the cpu was defective. i was under the impression that the bare cpu came with a one year warranty (from reading the hot deal forums, since warranty between an oem cpu and a retail cpu was mentioned several times to clear confusions). i went to frys to purchase another combo, thinking that i would send the newly purchased cpu right after i received the old one. i asked about warranty info, and was told that there was only a 15 day warranty. now i do not know what to do because it seems like i will end up with a dead cpu and a loss of approximately $50. i am writing this to vent, but comments are very welcome.
