I was looking at that 19" Mag monitor just yesterday at BB. I really didnt like it, it looked cheap...and was blown away by the other 19" monitors. It was priced at $199 after rebate.

I have an Acer 8432 and have been quite satisfied with it. Properly configured, I haven't burned any coasters and my one experience with support was a breeze. They answered the phone fast, gave me the address to their Taiwan web site to get a firmware upgrade I needed and through the whole call, never even asked me for a serial number, etc. to verify that I owned and Acer. (After dealing with Compaq with my first computer, theis wasa switch.)

Red Book spec for audio CDs is to burn masters at no more than 2X. I haven't had much trouble with higher speed copies, but it seems that the media quality is a factor in audio quality.

I think that the KDS Monitor at OD is the VS-190 ???
that is the only KDS 19" monitor they carry and they
have it on sale quite often I was going to buy this monitor
a couple of weeks ago when they had a $70.00 rebate.
I also looked at the MAG monitors and to me the picture
was washed out and fuzzy.

Note that MAG and MAGVIEW are not the same company, methinks. I was excited about the 19" until I saw it was MAGVIEW. MAG Innovision does not list the VM900E, so I think this must be a BestBuy or rebadged monitor? Specs are pretty sad if this truly is a MAG Innovision. Anyway, that's my 2 cents

Proview (cheap company) bought Mag Innovision (good company). Hence the company's new name....MagView.

I know this, because I was at their offices in City of Industry the other day.


Who knows what kind of product this will result in?!?!?

I am guessing that they use Proview insides with stylized Mag Innovision cases.

You would probably be better off with the Sharp 4 head from JC Penneys for $59.99 or the $49.98 4 head (Famous Brand?) from Fred Meyers (the one in the picture had front AV inputs). Sears has a Maganovox VCR with front AV inputs for $69.99. There is no shortage of VCR deals!!

The Acer 8x4x32 comes in a 2 and 8 meg buffer version. The Cendyne 8x4x32 which has ben on sale lately is also an Acer 8432iA with 2 meg buffer.

The $89 DVD Player at Circuit City will either be the Apex AD-500, Apex AD-500A, or the Oritron 100.

Both of the Apex's blow the KLH DVD player at Best Buy out of the water (it's total garbage). The AD-500 will play CDR/CDRW's, and *some* of the AD-500A's will also (I bought one and it did not...some other people did and they say that theirs did).

The Oritron DVD-100 is just pure garbage. Avoid it at all costs (unless they have upgraded the firmware recently, I should say. I bought one a few months ago and took it back immediately. It paused like every 30 seconds on "The Matrix.&quot

According to email I got from CC $89 DVD is gonna be APEX AD500A. Could be regional though.

By the way checked BestBuy today and no Acer CDRW here.
