21 is too young to get engaged.
Why?
Because, and I mean you no disrespect, a 21-year-old just doesn't know themselves at all. You might end up continuing to get along and love each other as you get older, or you might not. IMO it's a terrible idea to marry someone if you've never seriously dated anyone but that person, and you're likely to end up regretting it and resenting the other person. Honestly I think 25 is too young, and 21 isn't even close.
Is this true? Do people who marry their only love and childhood sweetheart usually later regret this decision?
I sometimes wonder whether if dating lots of other people is actually the cause for a lot of marriages not working.
When things lose their excitement (as they always will), the other person will begin to look for someone new to bring the excitement back into their lives. You get so used to the initial joy of new love that when things get old you think there is something wrong.
