Since this thread was made, I've watched the last couple episodes that have aired. Holy shit did the Hoffmans expand; who gave that dumbass all that fucking money?
It was the start of the second season. They started hitting some gold towards the end of the first season, after being fuckwits for most of it, then Fred decided to take over the claim.
The Hoffmans have learned alot over 3 seasons. Currently they have close to three-quarters of a million in gold and might even reach their goal of 1000 ounces. I wouldn't be surprised if they are the ones that have hit the motherlode with the lot they are mining now. They have been producing well over 100 ounces a week recently and the new "bench cut" they've been mining looks to be pretty strong. You would have to watch the entire season to know why they have the investors that they do.
Like anything, gold mining requires a learning curve. Todd is lucky to have Dave. He has saved his ass this year though Todd might have made the decision to uncover the big find. Won't know until the 22nd. Personally, I hope Parker is the one. He walks the line between douchebag and likeable but I like to give him the benefit of the doubt. He seems to know when his passion has sent him into douche territory and pulls back.
