I have ground turkey...

It has been (open) in the fridge for a week, but it's sell by date has not yet arrived. Dare I eat it? What do the foodies of ATOT say?

I'd toss it... but I kinda hate ground turkey. I'm *much* more inclined to just use lean ground beef instead, not much difference calorie-wise.

You are jsut supposed to use it like ground beef.
We most frequently use it in meatloaf.
I've done 100% turkey and it was a bit dry (not that ba really) so now we do 50% beef, 50% turkey.

I keep meaning to make a shepherd's pie with it, but haven't gotten around to it (maybe for thanksgiving...)

Turkey is pretty lean, and 1 week isn't that bad. Just cook it well and enjoy.

You need to leave it out in the sun for several hours so the flavors can develop.

I smelled it, it smelled like refrigerator (i.e. nothing) so I cooked and ate it. I didn't season it that well so it was kinda bland, but no illness yet.

One week is nothing, if your fridge is cold enough. I've eaten meat way older than that many dozens of times, and I have never gotten sick from any food in my entire life (as well as such a thing can be determined, of course). Just gotta cook it properly. Also watch your counters, the utensil you stir it with, the faucet handle, etc. Just because the meat gets cooked doesn't necessarily mean the spoon gets disinfected.

I say throw it out just because it's ground turkey. Of course after 2 years of my ex-wife cooking turkey burgers, turkey lasgana and turkey hamburger helper all the damn time I'm probably a little biased.

Oh how I'm glad I'll never see her again.
