I HAVE LOCKED MY LAPTOP USING A PASSWORD DONT KNOW HOW I DID IT.....I BOUGHT THE LAPTOP A FEW DAYS AGO FROM A FRIEND AND ITS MY FIRST EVER LAPTOP THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD CHANGE FROM MY PC..ANYWAY AS I MESSED AROUND WITH IT ACCIDENTALLY CREATED A PASSWORD THAT I CANT REMEMBER (I KNOW HOW STUPID OF ME) AND NOW WHEN I RESTART MY LAPTOP IT ASKS FOR A PASSWORD DURING BIOS MODE...WONT EVEN LOAD WINDOWS UNTILL THE PASSWORD IS ENTERD CAN ANYONE HELP?

Actually I'm not sure if this is the right way to approach this..but from the sound of it, it seems as if you set a password for your BIOS. I think that you can get rid of this by clearing the CMOS. However I'm just guessing here...NOT SURE! Anyone else want to tell me if im right?

If your able to get that far, then should be smart enough to know your password.

I've never heard of anybody "accidentally" creating a bios password. I'm sure that most people here suddenly can't remember how to help you.

i tried resetting the bios by removing the battery.. that didn?t work...and there are no jumpers on the board that will clear the cmos

How long did you leave the battery out? It could take a while.

EDIT: And that's both batteries, if there are more than one. The laptop battery and the motherboard battery (if there is one, I haven't opened up a laptop in a long long time).

What you must understand Mr. Looney is that this whole thread screams of 'I stole a laptop, how do I reset the CMOS password'. If it is not true, take a deep breath, step back, and look at this thread as someone else would see it.

Some more information would help prove it was legitimately yours like when you said:

maybe you could 'prove' your proof of purchase. That would probably be a good idea, cause a scanned or photographed receipt (XX out personal stuff like CC and name) would also give us a model number to go by.
