Haha - I'm pretty sure you need the DNS client - assuming what I think it does is correct (without it you can't resolve any web domain names into ip addresses)

Error reporting services is just a way for ms to spy on you.
You could also disable automatic updates & do it yourself.

I assume messenger is for msn. If so, & you don't use it, then trash that too.

Do like BlueWeasel suggested... go read Black Viper's guide, a lot of the services you have in manual should be completely disabled.

I printed the guide and went through it then marked everything. Now when I reload windows all I have to do is go down the list and disable everything I don't need. With a fresh load of Windows you should be at or below 20 services running. I have 25 running right now, some are not part of windows, IE: service for my mx700, anti-virus, etc..

That shouldn't have anything to do with setting up an account... here is a quote from BV's guide on that service " Server- Used for file and print sharing from your computer or Message Queing. For security purposes you may disable this service if you do not require local printers and files shared across your network. Connectivity, whoever, still exists even on incoming shared network drives. Workstation needs to be running to connect to another computer that has the files your are looking for. Note: If you disable File and Print sharing, the Server Service may disappear from the Services listing. Just enable File and Print sharing again and the Server Service will return."

That sevice has nothing to do with MSN Messenger.... but trashing is is a VERY good idea..

Do yourself a big favor and go read that guide!

Doubtful, but it can be occasionally useful to determine if MS have heard of the problem before. I don't turn it off for that reason.
