I have to give it up to MSI

3 days after warranty expired on my 460 Hawk, I called it in (fans were making crazy noises etc)....they accepted.

During the warranty claim they did ask if I'm using the card in SLI (which I thought was weird)....well now I know why they asked.

They send me 660TI, and by looking at the specs that's a pretty big upgrade based on what I had. Not that I will ever use 1/2 of that performance anyways...as my gaming interest are dwindling and I have mostly been playing older games, but still.

Thanks MSI, well done!!!

PS. I've also had 3 successful main in rebates with MSI (I know many haven't been as lucky).

I've had outstanding RMA experience with MSI motherboards when I used them for my Athlon 64 dual core rigs about a decade ago. I bricked more motherboards than I can count (don't ask how), and they have been exceptional with their RMA and customer service.

I haven't dealt with their RMA/customer service recently. But, I did recently purchase an MSI 7870 and I promptly received the rebate for it. I'm still waiting on my two Sapphire rebates.

By the way, grats on the free and amazing upgrade

MSI and Iwill if you guys remember them have very legit RMA going back to the P1 days. Evga and Corsair are the newer players that always get a mention but rarely MSI or iWill.

Thats a hell of an upgrade. Probably would of sent you 2 had you told em yes lol!

I wish, but again I don't play any newer games. Even my 2nd 460Hawk never gets pushed to the max.I've mostly been playing COD United Offensive and Day of Defeat Source....here and there.

+1 for MSI

i've had cards die mining, and their RMA service has been nothing short of outstanding.

Same here, I had a good experience with MSI, they really took care of me years ago and the card they sent me has been a great performer since (making me money as we speak).

I used to moderate their forums back about a decade ago, they gave us free hardware for volunteering, very nice of them. I always like their products and support and continue to buy them when I can.

Hopefully I'll never need it, but it makes me feel very good about purchasing an HD 7850 2GB from them during Black Friday (looking at prices now got such a great deal).

Where does one sign up? LOL

Sounds awesome of them, glad my current card is MSI.

Times have changed, they took it all back in house. I actually think their support is much better now than it was in the past. They gave us hardware every quarter to help troubleshoot with the users in the forum. Their support structure has completely changed since then I believe.

Did any of you cross ship? I have a Lightning GTX 780 that I'm probably going to have to RMA due to a really loud fan and was wondering if they'd ship me a replacement so I won't have to wait a couple of weeks like I did on my Seasonic power supply RMA.

I'd also like to know. I have a 7870 which gets very loud at high RPMs, sounds like fans are rattling. I don't want to have 2-3 weeks worth of downtime because that will end up costing me a lot of $$$ worth of cryptocurrency.

In my case, the Lightning is new and was just installed on Monday. It is beyond the return window at Newegg and I was delayed in installing it due to my power supply issue. I opened a ticket on MSI's tech support site 24 hours ago but haven't heard anything from them.

MSI has been good to me in the past. I had a standard ref 5870 that a fan went out on after about 18 months and when I rma'd it they sent me a 5870 Lightning as a replacement. Not too shabby if you ask me.

It's good to hear MSI is good with CS. I really enjoy lightnings, and the fact they have one of the best warranty (policy wise and apparently support wise) is icing on the cake.

I have a lot of respect for MSI.

Personally I'd only rate one other manufacturer at about the same level.

I think A LOT of companies are learning (the hard way) when it comes to outsourcing.

Let's face it, at the end of the day it's the company that benefits from cost savings of outsourcing but in most cases the quality of Support/service tanks and eventually it hits their bottom line.

I think this applies to manufacturing as well, more and more companies are coming back state side.

I have RMAd 2 R7950s, it took them 1.2 months of sending me bad replacement 7950s. They finally swapped them for 2x 7970Ls.

I already had to RMA the 7970LBE after 3 months and they sent me another 7970LBE that was bad. Go MSI! ASUS does the same crap, send you broken parts over and over again until you bitch loud enough they might send a new part.

sure it's a bit of a hassle, but with radeon cards selling the way they are and cards dying because of mining, they do what they can to get you working parts

Mining is not what is killing the cards. It is the people who repair the ones sent into said company, they do crap repair jobs.

Still no excuse for them to keep sending broken GPUs, etc over and over again.

Mining can kill cards by running them 24/7 and degrading the chips so that they can't run stable at stock.

Only if the cards were under-engineered in the first place. There are plenty of us that use GPUs for distributed-computing (similar to mining), and good cards hold up. Bad cards burn out. Just the way it is.
