I have to write a self evaluation....

Does anyone have any hints/ideas on how to write a great self-evaluation for work (6 months of employment) without sounding too cocky? I work for an international law firm in a small practice group in our local office, so generally only report to 2 people besides HR.

Do a google search, resumes, action verbs. Then try to sound somewhat modest.

I get evaluated and have to read it and sign that I've read it. I haven't had to evaluate myself.

I always hate doing this because I tend to focus on the negatives when focusing on myself...hmm, what have I fucked up this year? Of course, I don't put that in the review but I have a hard time remembering all the things I've done well and instead focus on the mistakes. Honestly, I don't think anyone is harder on me than...me.

Besides, isn't writing my review my boss's fucking job?

I think they wanted to make sure I knew what the hell I was doing....but I don't know. For whatever BS HR crap reason I had to wait for the increase.

Besides, it was a good enough increase that two months at the previous salary wasn't really that big of a deal.
