I have VPN access Now What??

I want to be able to share files from my work computer and personal laptop. At this time I have vpn access.

And because of it i am able to visit my work's intranet sites.

However, what do i need to do for the following:

1. I want to synch my outlook with my the desktop.

2. I want to browse and search for files on my desktop.


How can I accomplish these tasks?

Do I need more software?

I don't see any answers to your questions in the URL already posted; mxnerd - can you be more specific?

1. If you can find an Outlook sync program, download it and run it. When you VPN into your office, your home machine and your work machine are on the same network; any Outlook sync program would then work. *Finding* such a program, OTOH, is another story.

2. Once you're VPN'd into your office network, you can easily map a drive and examing your office machine, assuming you have appropriate access rights. The entire purpose of VPN is to put you onto the office network.... just leave your office desktop turned on...

Yes, my link does just show the various problem Clocker probably will encounter even he already has VPN. Since every VPN connection is different software/hardware, I can only point him to where to search solutions.

And like what you said, Clocker need a Outlook sync program. He can just copy the Outlook.pst file to his computer at home then open it, but that will be huge and impratical.

Once he is able to map drives and set the security, he can search and access the files. The only problem -- extremely slow.

I would rather leave everything at work. And use Remote Desktop over VPN. Then I don't need any syncing or file copying.

Exactly ... OP - any reason not to use Remote desktop?
