I hear about Newegg, Zipzoomfly, and Monarch....but what about Tigerdirect?

I want to order everything from one place and Tiger Direct has everything I need. Newegg does too, but they tax me 10% :disgust: Monarch and zipzoomfly do not tax me, but ill have to pick alternative brands, etc. So could anyone please tell me if TigerDirect is a bad idea or the downside to ordering from them? TigerDirect apparently has decent service in Canada (tigerdirect.ca) but a lot of complaints here in the US.

If you list out your parts and which ones monarch / ZZF don't carry, people here can probably suggest alternative parts that are as good or better.

I'd personally stay away from Tigerdirect . Just read their BBB reports. I ordered from them once, i would NEVER order from them again.

I'd stck with newegg, zzf or monarch.

Ok, thanks a lot for the replies. I pretty much got everything or the equivelents from ZZF except for the PSU. I was originally going to get the Forton 530 watt PSU for $70 and a gig of corsair value select for $140 . Could anyone recommend an alternative 530 watt psu and memory close to those prices?

Do you really need a 530 watt PSU? What components are you putting in. I've heard that fortron is decent, but i'd stick with antecs/enermax.

ZZF has a decent price in this enermax 480 watt coolergiant. It looks good and the reviews a favorable for about $88.

I ordered an Asus A8V-Deluxe/athlon 64 3400+ s939 combo from tigerdirect. they shipped it the same day and i received the package in 3 days. no complaints about em...except their prices

Yea, but im sure the chances of them messing things up would be greater when ordering parts for a whole system, hehe.

I keep seeing TigerDirect pop up because on so many parts they have the cheapest price. Guess I get what I pay for. I keep ordering parts that are out of stock, having parts ship out of warehouses as far from TigerDirect's Miami office as possible (do they even HAVE a warehouse in Miami?) and when I call to change an order because I don't want to wait a week for a backorder to get filled, I end up talking to a guy that sounds drugged out that I have to prompt with sentences like, "Do you want my order number?" "Do you want to know what I would like to get instead?" "Do you want me to get you the part number off of the website since you apparently have no idea what the difference is between a stick of RAM and a stick of gum?" "Thank you, drive through please?"
