Battery life on Apple Ipad is better than most Android devices. I left my iPad unused for a week and it still maintained at least 80% battery. I left my Amazon Kindle Fire HD unused for a week and the battery is drained. The only other product that I know can last that long is Nintendo DS or 3DS. Don't know about Samsung or Google Nexus devices.

The only Apple product I have had was my iPhone. I now use a Samsung Note 3.

I have never been a big fan of their products either. People love them though.

So my I got my wife a LG volt Android based phone. My daughter has an Ipod (5th). This is not the first time I've bought Apple, but this will likely be my last time.

1. Extortionately expensive, and no justification for the price. Apple claims their products are higher quality. I don't see the big deal.

2. The Nerd factor with Apple products are quite low. The interface seems very "Fisher-Price" like. My wife's Android is awesome. I was able to flash the firmware, put on some funky version of Android OS and get the phone rooted. The android OS is very flexible, you can enable developer options and play with all kind of settings.

3. No SD card slot on devices. My suspicion is they use physical size as a selling point. So it's not like you get get the most basic ipod/iphone and just put in a 64gb micro sd card. You can with Android devices.

4. My understanding is Apple has to approve apps for Iphone/Ipod, whereas Android has unrestricted.

1. I do. Their support at Apple stores are outstanding. I can walk in without an appointment and get my phone replaced if I tell them something is wrong with it. The build quality is outstanding on my 5s. I've dropped it many times without a case but it still works flawlessly.

2. 99% of the population has no desire to flash firmware or enable developer options. The 1% are tech forums like Anandtech.

3. No option on this one. I don't use SD cards. I stream all my shit.

4. This is a gigantic advantage for iOS. The quality of apps on the appstore are generally higher quality.

I'm actually pissed about how much more I paid for a Ipod (with no phone func) v.s. a LG volt. How the Android device seems vastly superior in hardware, screen size, OS v.s. the Apple. Waste of money.

Okay, you're just trolling now.

No you retard, your thread just sucks. This is a stupid topic that is literally older than the internet, and you have added absolutely nothing of value to it. Everyone on this site is at least passingly familiar with Apple and what their devices are like, so you can't even claim it's a PSA.

Android is like a baggy off-the-rack suit. Whereas Apple's are perfectly fitted, tailored to your size...but restrictive, uncomfortable, and you kind of look like a twat.

This is so awesome, thanks for cheering me up.

5. No support for Near Field Communication

6. No support for miracast. With the Android I can connect it to my Roku3.

5. iPhone 6 does have NFC, but only for mobile payments at the moment. Also, Apple Pay is worlds better than any other implementation of NFC for mobile payments.

6. It supports any DIAL receiver. I can stream from my phone to my TiVo or to my brother's Chromecast. AirPlay is better (though glitchy since iOS 8).

Was the LG Volt on contract? Probably paying a lot more than you think...

Apple requires you to have a icloud account to use the ipod. In addition I had to setup a icloud account (something I would never use) so that my daughter can use the ipod. I was supposed to be the approver if she tires to download a app. She would go and try to do a download, then I would never get a notificaiton. It seems I would also have to have a ipod/iphone to get the notification (not sure). Anyway I just removed the restriction and it works. Not sure about why it couldn't, but it didn't seem to "just work".

I've always assumed you're supposed to have an Apple device for that family sharing purchase notification.

I will wrap up this discussion by saying.

Apple is just not as good and as innovative as they used to be in the past.
Just like James bond movies. They used to show new gadgets and amazing concepts at the time when nobody thought it was possible. Kind of added the sci-fi tag as well.

But, now they are only about stories that every other movie also have. The only difference being some are better and others are worse.

Depends on you whether you want to pay a premium for the movie ticket knowing that you can watch a similar or better movie at a lower price. Choice is yours.

If you are a James bond/Apple fan, go buy it. If not, then also you haven't lost anything by buying android in the first place.

One day you will grow up and realize that rooting your phone is not cool, and only voids your warranty and greatly reduces reliability and security.

It doesn't really do any of those three things...
