Dutch and British governments have both inked deals with Microsoft to continue to keep it on life support, at least for them—under Microsoft’s Custom Support program.

went straight from windows me to vista

with any experience with windows me there is never any reason to complain about vista especially after it was patched

From what I read a very high percentage of ATM's run XP so if the US government (AKA tax payers) does not bail out the "banksters" they could well reduce interest rates on our checking accounts further to .0001 % (I get a huge .1% now)

Never really had trouble with XP and if XP supported DX 11 I'd still use it! Was a great OS. This fucking Windows 7 is so ass backward where shit is located. I have to do like three clicks just to view the network properties in Win 7. In XP you just clicked the damn network icon in the task bar. Technology: One step forward two steps back.

I just hope Win 9 has no Metro crap and is like XP. M$ will make a fortune!

the only reason XP needs to be kept alive is for manufacturing reasons. tons of stuff runs on it still. both off the shelf and custom software.

thats the ONLY reason to keep supporting it IMO

for the desktop user F them time to move on

Well, at least their new CEO seems like he knows what the score is. There were people claiming that Windows 8 would never see the return of the Start Menu again, that Metro and tablet UI was path of the future. Now, 8.1 Update 1 is putting a usable UI back into the OS, so seems like he's getting the Windows 8 train back on its rails. Still think its too late though, Windows 8 will be forever remembered alongside Vista and ME.

I would rather them use my tax dollars to keep XP going, than to use my tax dollars to study the mating habits of migratory farm workers or some such bullshit.
