Try putting a human in a microwave .. even if they could fit you'd get a fight and it would be kind of even handed. Putting a defenseless puppy in the microwave? Sheer horror basically, I hate this kind of stuff.

Actually cruelty to animals can be a warning sign that the perpetrator may be capable of doing similar things to humans. When a person needlessly brutalizes a pet, it may lead to other acts against people so I would think that would be a cause to take notice...

WTH is wrong with being anthropcentric? IMO anyone who vehemently states they're not or accuses others of being anthropocentric is nothing more than a "better than thou" type. It's more terrible someone would have the mindset to do this to a puppy, rather than the puppy being microwaved and stabbed itself. Worse still are the thousands of violent acts against people every day. The only reason stuff like this gets so much attention is because a) it is a little outlandish so the sensationalist media is sure to pick it up and appeal to everyones senses (see c); b) we've had hippy treehuggers shoving cruelty to animal riders down the throats of congress and elsewhere for ages; and c) these same hippy treehuggers have been using a "better than thou" attack on the public just as long, and the public has bought it.
It's time to wake up. Maybe if people didn't treat each other with such malevolence THEN this stuff would disappear on it's own. This person obviously has problems and does need to be put away for a while but these things get blown way out of proportion. There are certain truths in this world, including little boys will always mutilate frogs and PEOPLE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN PUPPIES.

Obviously you don't have any pets, do you? Not to put too fine a point on this, but a pet is really a part of your family. Whether or not it is human makes no difference as far as the owner is concerned. Suppose you had a baby sister, how would you like it if someone stabbed her and put her in the microwave? I thought so.
