There is a distinct difference in smacking a dog on the nose when it misbehaves and sticking it in a microwave for no reason other than some fscked up sadistic desire. And if that isn't enough, doing it multiple times and then stabbing the thing with a knife when he's done.

I think torturing any animal sucks.
Now I know there are people that eat dog. Those that do though treat them no different than cattle. Raise em like cattle and slaughter em like cattle. Not the most pleasant thing but no worse than what they do to cattle.
I don't care to have a dog as a pet but I do enjoy spending time with other peoples dogs. (At least when they're not jumping on me or trying to sniff me all over)

Putting a puppy in a microwave and stabbing it is just plain messed up and wrong.

Wow your really jaded huh That's horribly cruel. It's a innocent dog. I'd definitely value the Puppy's life more then the ahole who put him in the Microwave and stabbed it. Someone should put him in a microwave.

Ditto for me. I have seen human being accidently get microwaved by standing in front of a satellite transmitting dish. Boils you from the inside out. I say we put this dude in front of one of these 10-foot diameter dishes for say, 10-12 seconds at atime .....for a week or so.

This is certainly a horrific crime, and it bespeaks a diseased mind. I can't see acting as though it is no big deal that the perpetrator committed such an aggravated and deliberate act of cruelty just because the victim was an animal. I do not feel it needs to be punished in the same way as if the victim were human, but this is a serious crime.

As for the woman who microwaved her baby, I would have given her a harsher sentence myself, but the jury apparently took her alleged medical problems into consideration in sentencing. This case, unlike that one, obviously and clearly reflects cruel intentions by the perpetrator.

Like I said, this may be tried as a felony case. They changed the laws here in GA after a series of particulary nasty animal cruelty cases that were well beyond "misdemeanor" in scope in most people's opinions. Maxumum penalty for a first conviction is $15,000 + 5 years in the pokey. Second conviction is max $100,000.
