I just decided to try out one of these new monster LCD screens. Right now you can get the I-Inc model iH-282HPB for $289.99 shipped from Tiger Direct or CompUSA or Circuit City, which all appear to be the same company. Save $5 if you use Google Checkout to make it $284.99.

I think this is the new version of the popular I-Inc iF-281DPB that has nearly 1000 positive reviews around the net. I couldn't find one review or any mention at all about this LCD but since the previous model had great reviews and Tiger Direct has a 30 day full refund policy I took a chance.

I got it for ~$230 about a month ago. Seems fine to me. It's funny how quickly you get used to the size, then other guys' just seem small.

Bing cashback is 13.1% for Circuit City if you get the ad to come up.

I see this monitor is currently going for $250 at three different places. TestFreaks gave it a 9.4 out of 10. Reading user reviews off of TD seems to think its a decent monitor for the price. Supposedly my local CompUSA has it in stock. I may go see if they have a demo on the floor tomorrow. Has anyone actually bought and used this monitor lately? I'm looking for a 28" 1920x1200.

Yeah, it's pretty dang good for a TN panel (not sure if I've used the iF-281DPB or the iH-282HPB). Very bright. I've installed a bunch for work and a few for personal use. Thanks to the low price, it's just as economical to buy this monster for personal systems as it is to run down to Staples or Best Buy and spend the same amount on a much smaller monitor with less quality. If it matters to you, the Hanns-G model has a glossy bezel and the I-Inc model has a matte bezel (both made by Hanspree). I prefer the I-Inc model because it doesn't have reflections on the bezel from the gloss and doesn't seem to attract dust as easily.

This is one of my default purchases for new builds, along with the Antec 300 case, Megahalem heatsink, Samsung F3 1TB, etc. Cheap, huge, works good. Pretty solid monitor. I haven't had any show up with a dead pixel yet, somehow. It has a 100x100mm VESA mount (Monoprice.com sell a ton of cheap mounts). It has dual HDMI inputs plus a VGA input, and you can use DVI with an HDMI to DVI adapter or cable. The dual digital input is nice because you can plug in an Xbox 360 or something along side the computer and basically use it as a smallish television. It does have onboard speakers, which is convenient for office use.

I've never seen it go for less than $249, and it's always $25 or $30 for shipping - if you can find it for less or with free shipping, let us know!

I have 3 and love them does seem that about 50% have a stuck pixel though. Out of the 8 I've seen 4 had one stuck pixel.

i'm guessing that this is the same as the hanns-g, too... i have 2 of the hanns-g 28 tv models (19x12) and they are just great tubes for the money (although i got them even cheaper than this on other deals)...

While reading the user reviews I have read people picking them up for $220 but that was back on Black Friday. Not sure but I thought one online store had free shipping but I'd have to go back and look again because I'm not sure about that. People were saying Tiger Direct has a sale ocassionally with them so I guess it's the store to watch. I'm going to go down to my local CompUSA store later today and see if they have it in stock. According to their website they have some.

Has anyone tried this monitor in Eyefinity? Three 28" monitors for $750 is a very good price I would think. The LCD has some wide bezels though so it may not work so well. I know ideally its better to have a monitor with narrow bezels to make triple monitor gaming more enjoyable. Maybe I'll just get one for now and see how I like it. Thanks for the feedback!

I run eyefinity and love it. Bezels are a bit wide but they really don’t bother me just have to use bezel adjustment when playing games. What I hate is that no games support that wide of a fov. They are always streached out on the side monitors no matter what fov settings you use.

Worth mentioning that mine creates an audible buzzing noise when you view a light screen with lots of dark text. Wikipedia for example.

Great to hear, Brock. Question for you. This monitor has built in speakers it says. Do you use them or do you use something else? I've always used a separate independent speaker system myself. Currently using a 2.1 set up. Will the monitor's built in speakers interfere with that? I assume you can just not use the monitor's speakers and use whatever you want.

I've never seen so many people admit to having dead or stuck pixels and yet most still state they love the monitor regardless.
I wonder if its due to just the sheer size or if the monitor is that good otherwise.
So, if you're lucky and get one with no pixel issues or they dont bother you, this definitely looks like a good choice for a cheap/large display.

Thinking about grabbing one for the wife, she has a Hannspree 23" now and she never complains about its viewing angles which arent the greatest, but it never bothers her.
I'd grab it partly for her and partly just so i could see one of these for myself.

Well, if a single stuck/dead pixel is somewhere where it doesnt interfere with what you are doing, say in a corner area, then its not so bad I guess. Dead/stuck pixels are common on LCDs. Even the better monitors are prone to them. Just the luck of the draw. Some people get them and some don't. I have a 20" Viewsonic LCD that at the time was considered the best you could get and now a few years later it has a couple dead pixels. We still use it. The wife uses it in fact. There are no guarantees when it comes to dead pixels. The manufacturers simply cannot guarantee it. You can buy a warranty that allows you to return it after a certain time if one shows up but that'll cost you a good penny.

I have one green on the fair right that is far enough to the side not to be a problem and one in the top left of my left monitor that is medium gray that you can't see less you look for it. My middle one is perfect. I don't use the speakers though you can select them from the audio menu the ati output just shows up like a sound card. I have tested them and they are pretty weak.

If I do get a dead pixel... how is TigerDirect's or CompUSA exchange policy? I don't have a CompUSA here in Southern California so I will have to ship it back... Been looking for a 28inch with 1920x1200 for 3 months and this seems to be a good deal... want to replace my 22inch Samsung so I can get more headshots in First Person Shooter Games...

CompUSA has a 30 day return policy. I assume TD is the same since they own CompUSA. There is a restock fee of 15% if you want your money back. Exchange is free.

I would try something like this to increase your talent before changing to a larger monitor to increase your ability: http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=6F-1001

and it's 50% off w00h00!11
