For anyone with this monitor, does it look like it needs a higher res (like Dell's 27" at 2540x1440), or does 1920x1200 still look okay at 28"?

$32 shipping to NH, so it'd be $231.99. I'm tempted to get three smaller 1080P displays for Eyefinity, but one 28" wouldn't be so bad either..

I think it's just fine. I never run enough programs at once to have even half the taskbar filled up (I opened up a few extras in the image below). On the desktop, I can fit 25 icons across and 11 icons down. So space for 275 icons total. I paid $250 for this TV and couldn't be happier. 1900x1200 comes in handy big time if you write code.

Yeah, at 27" or 28" 1920x1200 real estate should be plenty for anything basically. When you have a 22" or 23" LCD its different. The new LCDs are becoming more and more 1080p vs 1200. You lose some real estate. Also the larger the screen the easier it is to read things. For example I used to use 20" LCDs at 1680x1050. I moved up to a 22" LCD with 1680x1050 and reading things (like websites, text, and etc.,) is far easier on my eyes. Thats why I wanted to find the biggest screen with 1920x1200. 28" will be easier on the eyes than say a 23" or 24" with same res. Young people may not have a problem but when you get over 40 and wear glasses reading things gets a bit harder on the eyes.

You couldn't be more right about 1920x1200 being excellent for writing code. I have a second system with 1920x1080 and I hate using it for code development.

I received this monitor Yesterday and it is rocking!!! I made the UPS guy wait for me to test it real quick to see if there were any dead pixels before I signed the delivery off. There were none and after playing a few games - I don't think I'm going to go back to anything smaller...

NOTE: When you order any LCD, HDTV, or PLASMA monitors you can make the UPS/FEDEX guy wait for you to test to see if it is DOA or has any Dead Pixels before you sign the package off- if there is any dead pixals/DOA the delivery company can send it back to shipper... if delivery peron refuses to let you, you can just refuse shipment and he has to take it back anyway... sometimes it is the delivery company's fault for rough handeling of the pacakge... Just an advice to save all those RMA headaches!

recommended this guy to my buddy looking to replace aging crts. He is a css nut and uses a second monitor for chat, web. He got 2 of them and absolutely loves them. Nothing compares for the price. IF you don't want an ips, this is a no brainer.

Just finished my monitor stand for these guys today ;-). Don't have to worry about my daughter knocking them off my desk any more. If anyone is on the fence these are by far the best bang for your buck.

Edit: Sorry about crappy photo used my cell phone/

Wow! Nice setup. I wonder if I should dump my pair of Acer 24" 1920 x 1200 monitors for a pair of these?

Anyone use this vertically? Curious how usable it is rotated 90 degrees.

This is a TN panel. It is not as good as an IPS panel, but it's faster than an IPS panel and won't exhibit as much ghosting in movies & games. It's VERY bright. I setup a lot of engineers at work on a pair of these. You really can't beat them for the price, if you're on the lookout for size, that is.

I came from a 24" 1920x1200 Soyo and it was well worth the money I did however jump to 3 monitors from 2 but the extra 4 inches is a lot just looking from one monitor to another. If you have a micro center near by go in and look at a 24" next to the 28". The tiny looking monitor on top of my set up is a 23" 1080p ViewSonic.

Coming from a p-mva panel to a tn panel I really haven't noticed a difference besides viewing angels and that is mostly when I am sitting across the room at an angel. I use mine mostly for gaming but I have done some coding without issue. Unless your business work is graphic design the colors should be fine. Sorry I don't watch dvds on my computer but netflix looks fine and games look amazing so I am sure it would work well for that with the exception of being 16:10 instead of 16:9.

Depends on how picky you are. Some people are so picky they can be down right anal about what they buy. Now, me... I go for good enough much of the time if the price is right. This LCD fits that bill for me. You won't find a decent 28" LCD cheaper than this one I'm thinking. If you need/demand the best quality picture then you'll pay more for something else obviously.

One thing you could do is buy it from somewhere that has a good return policy and if you dont like it return it. Or find a retail store that has them in stock. I went down to my local CompUSA that had it out for demo and I was sold on it after viewing it in person. Its good enough for me. I'm actually considering buying two more for triple 28" Eyefinity. Damn P6 chipset recall stopped and delayed my new build. Thinking now maybe buy another 6950 and go for Eyefinity set up come April or whenever they get the new improved P6 mobos out.

Depends on what your money is worth to you too... a quick look shows two common IPS panels (HP ZR30W and Dell U3011) running at $1220 and $1500 list, respectively. For the price of the HP you could get nearly five of these monitors.

Of course, image quality and sharpness will be worse than the IPS panels, but I cannot complain about anything about this monitor. I've never used an IPS panel either, so it's not like I know what I'm missing.

My brother does graphics professionally and has a calibrated 26" NEC that he just spent $1100 on. I was expecting to visit him and be blown away. While it does look better than my uncalibrated I-Inc, the difference is negligable. The viewing angles are a lot better but I sit directly in front of my screen at all times so the viewing angle issue is a non-issue.

LOL... same here... I can't stop laughing everytime a noobie calls me a hacker on FPS games with all the headshots I get... it's even funnier after the server admin spots watches me then defends me...

Since I finally experienced gaming on a 28inch I don't think I won't settle for anything less now...

I think I'm going to step down the a 27" for 3d when the new Acer comes out. Sadly these I-Incs are so cheap that they don't resell for anything...

Personally, I'd never buy any refurb electronics. To me it says it was broken once but supposedly okay now. Not something I'd want to gamble on. But thats just me.
