I just bought a computer, and I'm getting a weird symptom

Whenever I'm doing anything, mainly playing games, after awhile it will alway boot me directly to the desktop, no errors, no warnings no nothing.

This is my system:

AMD TBIRD 1200mhz
Gigabyte GA-7DX M/B
128MB Micron PC2100 DDR Ram
Asus V7100 Ge2 MX 32MB
D-Link Network Card
Quantum Fireball HD
Volcano II Fan
I also installed all the lasted drivers ect (even tried the older ones).

Its getting really annoying, and help would be much appreciated.

you can try increasing AGP aperture size in bios. I recall this used to happen with some matrox cards in d3d games &amp; that helped!

What kind of OS are we talking about here? If it's Win9X try running registry cleaner programs. If you have NAV or any other Anti-virus programs try disabling it just to find out if it's causing the problem. Re-set the bios also to optimum default settings.

I'm thinking it shuts down the game and goes back to the windows desktop. I've seen it a time or two before, but it was always the game.

This won't help you, but I have this 1MB video card, and I used to get that happen to me when playing 3D games

OK, sorry about the confusion.

The Computer is getting the problem, nothing wrong with me, I'm at perfect health

What I mean is that when I'm playing games ( CS, Red Alert ect.) eventually while ingame, the game will exit completely and I'll end up at the desktop. But it isn't like the game was minimized.

I'm running Windows ME

Sounds like more of a software issue...If it was heat or power you most likely would have froze up or spontaneously rebooted. If it was ram or a handful of other hardware conflicts you would have froze up or got a bsod.

what version of 4 in1 (or 3 in 1 if it uses amd agp chipset)?

What version of direct x are you using?


I think you can rule out indiviual games since they both do it...Could be a winme problem but would most likely require you to do a clean install again...

I say format your HD and put 98se or 2000 on your comp! My friend had a similar problem with Me and after he formatted it was fixed! Win me is the junkiest OS out there! Switching OS's is the easiest and maybe the only way to fix the problem. If you switch and you still have problems then you know its a hardware issue.
