Is there a difference between the top load and original front load NES? My front load NES went FUBAR a long time ago and I am pretty sure my top load NES didn't have RCA connections.

As does mine, but it is a mono output.

They are not on the back though. They are on the side of the console.

Correct. Red and yellow plug.

If your TV/receiver doesn't automatically double a mono input you're gonna want to get a composite/RCA splitter cable.

Top loaders don't have the game reading problems that the normal ones do... they're also about 50 times rarer.

Well see, Me and you would both rather get the Emus / Roms for free rather than having the system, but there are some people who HAVE to have the original systems, they say its not the same.

Doesnt bother me the game is that same thats all that matters to me.

what are you TALKING about??

half the fun was trying to get the game to actually start.

everyone had their own ritual.

mine was to slowly edge the game in while pushing down until the game was just inside the front ledge. then SLAM the game down as hard as you could.

agreed
Our ritual was the blowing one. To blow until we heard that whistling sound. Then it should have been fine

That was my old method. My revised method included blowing so hard into the cartridge that you end up spitting into it. You then do as you say, slamming the cartridge in once it barely clears the lip. The secret step is to then click the cartridge down so it's about to pop back up and put another cartridge in there to hold it in place.

The original NES has RCA connections.

The updated top-loading version does not.

It does. It has 1 RF adapter for coax and a pair of RCA outputs (mono sound and video)

The top load ones were made after the SNES was out, and are more rare.

I don't think there is much difference between the two though.

8 bit NES.. best system ever!!! Ok, so I'm an 80's kid so I'm biased for nostalgia reasons, but still, the games still rock and don't have to depend on 3D graphics to make up for crappy gameplay...

oh and I still have my nintendo and recently purchased one of those new cartridge connector things.. very easy to install and now I never get that blue screen.. but I agree, half the fun was trying to get the game to work...

Does the back of the NES have Audio/Video output on them?

Looking at my old NES right now I'm cofirming that yes, indeed it has a/v output.

I never had to do that. About 95% of the time the games worked perfectly fine. Whenever they didn't work, I just cleaned the cartridge contacts with hydrogen peroxide and a Q-Tip and they worked perfect after that. Although on occassion I did get pissed at certain games and I'd slam them around for revenge. Ah NES, one of the best systems ever.

SNES is better than NES, but the good games are expensive Just out of curriocity I checked out ebay for the price of some of my games and it turns out that I have 4 or 5 games that I could sell for 30-40 a piece. :Q
