The deficit can be cut in half. Right now.
First I take the 175 Billion a year in Bush tax cuts to the top two percent. Then I add the growth in that 175 billion since the cuts were passed from inflation. Say, 185 billion.
Then I move the troops in Iraq to staging areas and cut Iraqi reconstruction and military costs. Say another 50 billion.
Right there is 235 billion.
Just about half the deficit.
Then I get China to increase the cost of the yuan to its real level. I can do that because I no longer need Chinas money to fund the deficit.
After a couple of years of slightly higher prices for imported goods American companies start rebuilding. I then take the increased government revenues from that, and add the lower costs for things like Medicare since more people are employed and I get another 50-100 billion.
Then I rescind the 75 billion in giveaways the Republicans have spent on big business.
Add it together and , whee.
Its a bouncing baby surplus.
