people that post that the road looks like a 40 MPH road have never driven around LA. Just last night i was driving through tustin, and was on a 3-lane surface street, passing shopping centers, ralphs, buss stops. posted limit was 60. guy from wisconsin in the car was freaking out, cuz NO roads are 60 in WI, i guess. meh, living in huntington beach, people drive 70-80 on surface streets, and the cops pass by doin 10 faster, and give you the finger for gettin in the way. ha.

damn, that road definetly looks like 50 mph is a reasonable speed limit - its not even near the end of the month so i wonder why the cop hit you with such a BS charge

i try to take it slow on a road i have no idea what the speed limit is. or just stick with the majority of traffic around me.
if there is none and its obviously not a residential, id go between 40-50.

Definitely looks non-residential, i would think the higher 'default limit' would apply. If my choices were 55 or 35, I'd pick 55 based on the road...

Always a tough call though - in Canada 'unposted' is usually 50k (~30mph) residential and 80k (~50mph) non-residential. Sounds like a bum deal to me... but unless it's gonna hurt your insurance you might as well just pay up.
