I think you're ok since it did not get a chance to latch on for long but probably worth going to ER just to be safe. I would have kept the tick though so it can be tested by the health unit.

Lyme reminds me a lot of what happens if you get organic mercury on you, it's a pretty horrible thing. Organic mercury will end up killing you while lyme won't necessarily kill you, but it will make your quality of life suck and is a life altering disease.

oh i still got the little dude sealed tight in a baggie... every time i get it back in the light, it wakes up and tries to escape

i might message the doctor and see what they think

but it looks like it's almost certainly a dog tick, so i think i won't get lyme at least

I would worry more about Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever than any Lyme Disease.

My cousin died from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever in about a week after being infected from a bite while he was on his honeymoon.

Head to urgent care or emergency room and get antibiotics if you are feeling nervous. If the hospital sues later...well people are not jailed for that...

well it sounds like the tick has to be attached for 6-10 hours to get that, so i think my chances are pretty low

i might call the doctor up on monday for the heck of it though

Where did ticks even come from anyway. Never heard of these until maybe like 5 years ago now they seem to be everywhere.

I'm just going to unilaterally blame China. Everything bad comes from China lol.

Ticks have been around forever. I used to get them on me a lot when I was a young-un. ( now I'm 66 ). We would just pull them suckers off and burn them up with a match. I never got sick from them.

I guess they have slowly migrated northward into Canadia... Enjoy. Wait till you find one attached to your junk and he is swollen to the size of a marble.

They are fun esp when they explode when you're pulling them off your sack.

it sounds like losing fingers or toes is a real big possibility with rocky mountain spotted fever

So is death:

Historical trends

  • The number of SFR cases reported to CDC per year have generally increased over time with distinct increases since the mid-1990s.
  • Notably, while the number of cases and incidence rose, the case fatality rate (i.e., the proportion of SFR patients that died as a result of infection) has declined since the 1940s when tetracycline antibiotics became available.
  • The current case fatality rate for SFRs using surveillance data is still roughly 0.5% of cases.
    • In clinical reviews of RMSF cases, about 5-10% of cases are fatal.
    • Inclusion of less severe spotted fevers, such as R. parkeri rickettsiosis, likely leads to the lower case fatality rate observed in recent decades.

Back in my days of being a cowboy ticks were an accepted part of the lifestyle. Along with getting bitten, kicked, thrown, and stomped.
You've never actually been kicked until you've been kicked by a horse.

Were you anywhere near the sector Elysium of Light or Harmony of Perpetuity?

I have never captured one, but a Goner Aran would be cool to have, and an Ozias to to be honest.
