seriously you've never had a skin hurt? like it just hurts to touch the skin against anything. sort of like an itch/burn. i gotta keep that forearm off my desk now, otherwise it drives me crazy.

What's "A" skin? Buffalo-skin? Bear-skin?

SNAKE-skin maybe?

I talked to my doctor about this awhile back. He prescribed me some antibiotics & said if i see a tick that i don't know how longs it's been there to take them. I i know for sure the tick has been there for less than a day don't even worry about it.

Very early this year i had 2 ticks on me. It was April 1 & luckily i went to the chiropractor after work & he saw them on my back. Called my doc & he pulled them out, got me a new script for some antibiotics(the old ones were expired) & he tested me about a week later. No for Lyme.

I never felt them at all other than when the doc pulled them. I was concerned because it was so early in the year & i hadn't really been out all that much even though we had a fairly warm spring. No problems since though but i've tried to be careful as i can.

You don't have any pets or rodent problems? Dog ticks can handle living indoors

No pets, never seen a mouse in the house. I do live in the woods though.
That makes sense. The transition from wood to flat lawn is often a place they are found, readying themselves for attack. I've had a couple I caught on me after cutting grass but I am sensitive to their crawling. The very first time I found a tick...somehow the tick did not bite me for over an hour and I had traveled 25 miles back home. Felt the crawling sensation and got it off.

The one that bit me was a young dog tick after I was sleeping on the couch, although it could have been taken in from the outside. Got me on the side of the middle finger. I too have no pets but the neighbor has a dog and mice sometimes do get in the house. The sensation was strong rather quickly though for me. .

No pets here either. But I did have rats in the attic for years. It was a struggle to get rid of them. I must have caught ~20 in those traditional spring traps baited with peanut butter. I think they finally got the message that my house was not a safe haven for rats. Or maybe the total roof tearoff/replacement had something to do with that.

I had a mouse invasion around 2 years ago. I figured out where they must have been coming in and sealed that off. Meantime I supplemented my supply of mouse traps and trapped them one by one until no more mice.

What bugs me this time of year is those little brown moths! I just killed one on the way up the stairs. I had coffee in my right hand but caught a moth in the left and said it's RIP as it made it's last flight to the steps.

I haven't seen (or heard) a mosquito for a few years, real glad of that. I suppose the drought conditions here have a lot to do with that. Not much standing waters around here! I was watering my yard last week and was buzzed by a hummingbird who wanted a shower. I obliged the cutie.

Don't worry and let the puppet master takeover.

On a more serious note, go see a doc.

Don't joke, one of my friends when we were kids got one on his dick. Had to got to the ER to get it removed and was super traumatized.

Emergency room to remove a tick.

OMG.

Just pull the fucker off. Grab him by the head with tweezers or fingernails and pull it off.

I wasn't there, but I'd imagine it was pretty painful and wasn't coming out easy. We have the larger deer ticks here on the west coast and they don't always come out easy especially in soft fleshy areas. I'd imagine there was lots of screaming and kicking going on since he was probably 7 or 8.

I wonder what they did in the emergency room...

I know. They held him down and pulled it off with tweezers. Maybe put some antibiotic on it.

Just make sure you get it all & don't leave the head/mouth in the skin
If the ticks head stays in it can still transmit disease... or so i've heard. Or maybe get infected

Had a patient come in with borrelia hermsii infection. Lived out in the woods but came in super confused. Ended up with meningitis. The patient actually did quite well. Took a few days to get over the delirium but with the right antibiotic cocktail they did all right. Easily could have gone south though.

good news, it's been 4 months and i didn't die!

but weird thing though

a day after the tick bite i got a big red pimple on both my feet

one of them went away but the other never did. it's still there, bigger and redder than ever, with a little dot in the middle.

it doesn't itch though so i assume its harmless

They also send it to the lab for testing, but yeah they'll put you on antibiotic prescription to play it safe. If you pull it off yourself, it's wise to still head to ER with it anyway just to be safe. If you don't get on antibiotics soon enough things could get ugly.

Pfizer is working on a vaccine for Lyme though so hopefully that works out.
