I just got my "Christmas Bonus" from my company...

I was reading "lamest gifts" from the company article on cbsnews a week ago and one of them was a guy getting an envelope with $100 in it. It wasn't a free $100 though, it was (without mentioning) just a $100 advance of the regular pay check. Some of his checks bounced as a result of not enough money being in the account and the guy was worse off for it. >.> Another one was a some a company compensating employees by insisting they come in on Christmas and giving them a gift card for a free soda OR a banana at one of the stalls. The gift cards didn't cover tax though so that was out of pocket.

Yeah, I'd say getting an amazon gift card for 25 bucks is pretty sweet. All things considered.

Wife just called and said her bonus was 2k. Me, I work on commission and my bonus,or lackof bonus,is tied in to a larger group and sales have been flat so no bonus for me.

My employees make between $12 and $25 an hour (if they're not on salary) and we gave everyone $1000+. Rule of thumb is to not give less than an extra paycheck.

If you're going to give someone an icecream cone or $25 gift card you might as well give them nothing. I got those kinds of gifts when I made $4.25 an hour and was 16 y.o. mopping floors. It's downright insulting.

Year end bonuses are due on March 15th - who knows if they are giving them in cash or stock this year.

Oh, I do get to be oncall this week and over Christmas. Nothing says Christmas like server monitoring alerts. I love basking in the glow of the warm cell phone as the alerts roll in.

I left my old company... got hired by a new company... $10k/yr raise... and they pay for all certifications. First one they want me to get is ITIL.

Next they'll pay for my CCNP, CCIE then CCIE-Voice. and once i pass each one.. i get a bonus.

Considering 2-3 weeks ago I worked an extra 26 hours in one week (working over 40 hours is very uncommon), and that I make a lot more than $25/hr, it almost feels like a slap in the face.

But I guess it's better than nothing so I can't complain too much! Too bad I purchased something for $26 on Amazon this past Monday heh, I could have used the card instead!

Oh... and they canceled both the Thanksgiving and Christmas company dinners because we're swamped with orders and they don't want to slow down the factory floor right now. Not exactly good for morale.
