Unless you have some high chance of landing a unique/interesting job in DC...is it really worth the price of admission? It's not like it has some highly desired climate and geography like California and other parts of the west coast.
$1700 for a freaking room...that's no way to live. Hell...I'd rather rent a super 8 hotel room/extended stay for $60 a night. You get your own bathroom, free parking, and daily housekeeping.
well as with any other major city, there is a limited # of spots to live around the middle of everything.
it is just pointless for people to brag/moan about how much they pay for their home/land in the middle of nowhere. there is a reason it is so cheap - because nobody wants to live there.
but i do agree $1700 for a ROOM is pretty ridiculous, and not worth it to me. but if i was single and making over $100k/yr, and wanted the city life that the nice parts of DC provides, i wouldn't hesitate to do it.
