so I fix computers for family occasionally, and my dad wanted me to come to his co-workers house and fix his computer because it was 'full of commercials'.

well, I open up internet explorer and this is what greets me:

apparently they thought that toolbars were a part of windows update. har har.

I managed to get everything off without a format, updated windows, gave them ad-aware and firefox.

Reminds me of the time a guy I know brought his laptop in and scanned it for spyware. Among the hundred or so items found, one was called "XXX Toolbar." He blamed it on his cousin who was living with them at the time, whom I have never met or heard of. I LOLed.
