I just installed the Office 2007 trial (home and student)

What a mistake that was. Is it just me or is microsoft completely retarded? The only program i have used is word and it is absolutely not as good as 2003. The interface isn't snappy and the program just runs generally slower than my 2003. To top it all off, my computer starting running slower than i have ever seen it run right after i installed it. Granted, this bad boy only has 512mb of ram but if microsoft can't write a new program to run on ultraportable lappys with 512mb ram, they are seriously inept overall. Why is microsoft running itself into the ground like this? I knew Vista was going to be bad but now Office 2007 is sub-par? Where is this world coming to? I don't even think its just my comp because i opened up 2003 to test it out and it was all messed up and stuff and needed to be repaired due to this trial. Once i got it opened and running, it was 10x more snappy than the 2007 trial. Maybe its just that it's the trial version but jesus ms screwed up again. Anyone agree disagree please post, as i want to make sure i am not the only one that hates the new office. I'd rush to uninstall the trial but i'm afraid that it would screw up my 2003, which i am very satisfied with already. I guess i just assumed that ms would release something better, faster, less cumbersome, etc. but was i completely wrong. I'll either keep my 2003 or install openoffice...

Only 512mb????? That's your first problem. All of the ultraportables I order for work come with 1.5GB standard.

That said, I have no issues with 2007 on my home system, which is a sempy 2800+. In fact I prefer it to 2003. To each their own.

yeah, i think 2007 > 2003 and earlier. its about time they got rid of that dated crap. the ribbon is great IMO.

but i have 2GB of ram, so i think thats why office 2007 is smooth for me.

Today you really need 1 to 4 GiB to get the most performance out of software. Sadly the price of DDR2 has gone up. The last stick of memory I bought was $20 for 512MB of PC3200.

I've noticed a lot of media center machines that come with 2 GiB of memory already installed.

Office 2k7 is one piece of MS software I may buy soon after it launches. I'll wait about 6 months on Vista, but Office 2k7 is a very nice program.

I've got 2GB of RAM though, and I would have had 4GB if the price of DDR2 had dropped or stayed the same.

Yeah i need to upgrade my ram. Office 2k7 would be better if i had some more ram. I think 1gb or 1.5 gb should do it.

Whoever's working on office 2007 better join the Windows team and give development a kick in the arse...

I agree.
Office 2k7 is probably the nicest thing Microsoft has created.

I don't know why you need 4gig's of ram though.

I agree Office 2k7 is a joy to work in...

Since the last update from beta2 is it even faster than 2003... I too will be buying it when the beta runs out
