All drivers loaded, picked up my linksys (which doesn't have xp x64 Drivers), and it is much snappier then Xp, and I'm using all the eye candy to just play around now.

I can only assume that all the Vista haters must have some really old hardware. Additionally, this was the easiest install I have ever seen.

My Intel rig below pulls a 5.9 across the board, except for the cpu...strange.

I'm also running the 64bit version and after reading some of the horror stories, I was ready for a battle and was prepared for the worst...what a nice outcome. All the drivers loaded perfectly, and now I'm installing apps and haven't had one single problem so far.

I think this is key if a person doesn't investigate potential issues and conflicts then Vista, hell any OS for that matter, can become a nightmare to deal with.

apart from that stupid 'time remaining' bug i heart vista x64. i've been using it since the RCs came out. found it more usable and more stable than XP

Been running x64 Vista since December. Before that 32bit since last May. I think it is a very solid and fine OS.

Granted I haven't been on it long, but it sure feels snappier the XP. One thing for sure is that my programs load quicker and it boots in half the time...well, two-thirds the time. I'm downloading Steam right now so we will see how some games work.

They should work just fine,I have around 70 plus games installed including Steam based games like TFC,DoD,CS etc...Obviously only very old 16 bit games/software won't run in Vista x64.

I have been using Vista x64 since day one and really like it a lot,no complaints from me.

Too bad Valve won't get off their butts and fix that weird bug that occurs when you exit a Source-based game. It's driving my reliability rating through the floor

I guess that's what I don't get........I mean I know there are people with problems (old hardware etc.) and many more people whom create their own problems one way or another but, my transfer to Vista over a year ago now was flawless and is to this day!

I've told a lot of friends and neighbors as well as coworlers throughout the last year how easy it was to switch and helped quite a few make the switch to Vista and to date, had no problems or unhappy people afterwards.

Now, come on. We've got people who swear XP is 50% faster [than Vista] at the same tasks!

Did you forget to drink the glass of Kool Aid before posting?

I'm with you! I've been running it for almost a month, & it's been totally painless.

What tasks is XP 50% faster? Link???

In Vista, Office applications load faster, Diskeeper runs and loads much faster...all the little things you do on a day to day basis. I'm going to find a stop watch and see what the difference really is.

Welcome to the club

You'll likely need a bit more of an OC on your CPU to get a 5.9
IIRC, it took me to around 3.5+ GHz on my E6600 to get there, or get a quad & you'll be there easy

I don't like vista. I switched from the 32bit HP back to win xp pro. My laptop (Vostro 1400, Core2 t7100, 2gb, 120gb sata, 8400GS) feels quite a bit faster now and I have no more problems with the operating system. I do miss the "program scrolling 3d interface" thing of Aero and the intelligent wifi connection center that were in Vista. I may migrate to Win 7 if it is lightweight like people are expecting.

Well, I can say that it's been a few more days running with Vista 64 HP and I find it hard to even dual boot back into XP now...seems very old. I have had and continue to have only one problem, and that is not a fault of Vista.

My Audigy 2ZS has an issue with the smbus in that Creative's latest drivers do not load this device. It should be recognized as an IEEE1394 bus.

Other then that, everything is smooth.

I haven't noticed that problem really. I've changed how security notifies me...Haven't seen a popup in some time. It was a pain when first installed though.
