There is Via. It's cheaper than AMD, uses lot less power, and runs cooler. It's slower but if you're just browsing web and emailing it's plenty powerful.

Agreed. Intel fanboys can't dispute this point.

But NEC floppies have it all over TEAC *and* Sony.
pffffft...NEC Fan Boy!
Hey! At least I didn't mention Chinon, Mitsumi, or Mitsubishi... but I will mention Alps and Y-E data!
NEC still rules them all though.
(The One True Silent Floppy Drive, to Rule Them All - seriously, Tolkien was an NEC fan too. )
Edit:
The dark wizard floppy drive is named Citizen though. Through various mystical incantations and hardware hacks, it is told, they can perform at 4X the speed of any mere mortal floppy drive, when attached to a proper 2Mbit/s floppy controller chip. (Seriously, I was told this by someone looking to buy a Citizen floppy drive to overclock it. Has anyone else heard/tried this? It sounded rather curious to me.)
nuff said.... can u say RAMBUST? ugh..Intel's commercials which always stretch the truth to no end (We make the Internet faster comes to mind ) doesn't help any. They always seem to be shoving tech that no one wants (BTX - CPU IDs) down our throats.

I don't like AMD better per say. I just can't afford Intel CPUs, plain and simple. As well, I use my system for general usage applications and gaming. AMD's CPUs do just fine in this area in terms of performance.
