I just need to buy a phone... (bought a G4)

I cracked the screen on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus (bought April 2012) when I was in Rome last year. I've been living with it ever since, waiting for the "perfect phone." I had hoped that the N6 would be it but it's not. And as much as I want to wait for Bullhead, my phone is just not hacking it. It's dying. Somehow. Perhaps if I "format" and re-install an OS it might get new life but I don't have time for that. And that doesn't help the camera at all.

I just need to buy a new phone. Go big or go home, right?

I think the G4 will be the one I get...

Discuss?

I don't know what we're discussing

What about the G4 is winning you over compared to the Nexus 6, or anything else out there?

Personally I would take a S6 over a G4. I think it beats it in most metrics. Faster storage, a much better SoC, an even better camera, Samsung is the best in the industry about updating old devices, etc.

If you were considering the Nexus that means that removable battery wasn't a deal breaker (because we will never have that on a Nexus ever again). So unless that is a deal breaker look at the S6.

g4 will be a huge upgrade over the galaxy nexus. go for it and don't look back. The S5 was a huge upgrade over the N4 for me, although I had to have to keep it at kitkat so performance/battery isnt sub par (not that N4 ran buttery smooth on anything other than jellybean for me)

Well, Bullhead could be based on the G4...never say never...

Never is usually a dumb thing to say, but I feel confident in the never.

Samsung made the last Nexus with a removable battery, and now even they have moved away from it. Plus Samsung isn't making the next Nexus.

The Nexus 4 was based on the LG Optimus G and it didn't have a removable battery.

The Nexus 5 was based on the LG G2 and it didn't have a removable battery.

I think whatever Nexus LG makes will have a nonremovable battery. Huawei's devices have a fixed battery.

If you were waiting on a unicorn removable battery Nexus to upgrade from that GNex then wave the white flag and go get a G4!

Congratulations on knowing what the latest version of Android is.

That advantage goes away as soon as M releases.

Any new flagship will be a huge upgrade from the galaxy nexus. I had 2 of them years ago and absolutely hated that phone.

I personally like the G4 over the S6, removable battery, sd slot and I like the lg skin way better then touchwiz

Does the G4 work with headset controls? Play/pause or volume up/down?

How is the headphone output? How is the speaker output?

an even better camera

Arguable I'd say perhaps just going but the spec... but the software can make a difference. A lot of reviews I've seen on video indicate that the manual mode for the camera app on the G4 is pretty awesome if you know how to use it.

The ones I've seen also pretty much always praise the G4 camera in auto mode as well.

Have you installed any apps to microSD and/or benchmarked any microSD cards?

I'm interested in getting a G4 in a few weeks when I have some money to burn (I hope).

Another vote for the S6.

The OIS is super broken in the G4. Youtube G4 OIS and you can see how bad it is currently.
